Echo DCS-2500T

Thanks, couldn't find one for sale anywhere other than UK, but looks like they ship fast. Looking forward to giving another battery tophandle a try. The little makita was ok, but quite limited. If this one is comparable to the 2511, I'll be very happy!
This guy compares the two. Stock bar and chain is stupid choppy.

Arbsession, monkey beaver and the UK place are all the places I know of to look for the sprockets.

The choppiness does get better after you sharpen it a time it 2. Not sure why, but every stock echo chains I've ever had was that way. Never had an issue with Oregon, Stihl, Carlton, etc.

Got mine in action earlier this week, I swapped to 1/4" pitch and it's definitely comparable to my 2511 (also 1/4 pitch). Pretty happy with it and the battery life after a few jobs. Quite a step up from the battery Makita top handle I had for a bit, which quite fairly was always compared to a Silky.

Side note, if anyone's looking for a 1/4" sprocket I had to buy 2 for minimum shipping purposes and I've got one for sale over on treebay

I have used mine for pruning a lot and love it.

Pruning endless street trees of 20" dbh honey locust and it has been perfect. I usually put the battery on charge over lunch.

Pruned two big pin oaks yesterday with it and still had 2 battery bars left. Ordered a second battery from Treestuff just to have an extra.

For those of us that do mostly pruning, I can't see how you can go wrong.

After a few prunes and removals I’m in love. It is light, ergonomic, easy on/off, see through bar oil as one charge could use more than a tank, battery life is better than expected. Got their battery blower with 2 batteries ($200) as well and I doubt we would use all three batteries in a single day. Really nice little saw, take it over a 2511 without a doubt.

Have you upgraded the bar and chain? With what?

I just bought one. Should be here in a few days. I will like a 1/4" bar and chain? Anyone know what the part numbers are for Stihl or other good bar and chain combos?

No upgrade as I couldn’t find any sprockets or kits in stock in the US. Shipping from England is too much for moderate gains. I’m fine with 3/8p and a few seconds slower.

The above link takes you to the options for both the 2511 and the 2500. Evidently the sprocket is different.

I should also add, when I ordered from the UK I did not pay VAT or shipping. I don’t know if that has changed? Arbsession has quarter inch pitch archer bars “universal mount” for $20. I don’t know how these fit or work but I know they had pictures of it on the 2500t. And I think it would take the quarter inch stihl chain. Monkey beaver used to have the sprockets but I don’t know about now?

I love it too. I bought a battery for $150 from treestuff and then saw that deal with batteries and blower for $200 at Ace Hardware after the fact uhhggg!

If they did that I’d buy the whole shooting match Blower, polesaw, and 2500! My gas echo power pole saw is great but it doesn’t get a whole lot of use since I got the makita battery pole saw, but that unit has its drawbacks.
Do you have the 18v or 36v Makita? I have 7 Makita batteries so if Echo doesn’t come out with a pole saw, I’ll go with Makita. Getting ready to prune a bunch of London plane street trees to elevate for a City which justifies buying a battery pole saw in my book.

It’s the 36volt dual battery couple shaft power head. I mainly run the pole saw attachment and the a hedge trimmer attachment with a little string trimmer attachment action mixed in. The main drawback is if you are cutting larger 4”+ wood the battery protection software kicks in too easily and shuts the saw down. It’s not a deal breaker. You can pop a battery off and back on again to “reset” but it’s irritating nonetheless. It doesn’t happen as often now that I have gotten familiar with the tool. I’ve never had it happen with the hedge or string trimmer. I bet if I figured out how to convert the saw to 1/4 pitch from 3/8 lo pro it would be much better.

Cool! If I go this route I’m hoping the 10” 1/4” pitch stihl bar & chain will fit.
