    ISC D4

Yeah, it costs $230.00 new. My climbing buddy wants to sell so he can use the money to buy a D4 Pro.

What shoes do you wear for limbwalking and non-removals?

That would be my guess. I am going to see if they will replace them.

What shoes do you wear for limbwalking and non-removals?

Have any of you guys had problems with the soles delaminating on clip'n'step boots? I have a pair that is less than a year old and one of the soles is separating from the boot about 2" back from the toe.

    Scissors recommendations?

I use the Clauss splicing scissors from Treestuff. They are only $20.

    This is the Akimbo

I like the Akimbo on Tachyon. But it does not work on ropes less than about 11 mm. For example it will not hold on 10 mm HTP, no matter how hard you set the friction. This is not a knock on the Akimbo, since it was not designed for use on ropes less than 11.5 mm. If you regularly climb on...

    Splicing double braid

I just noticed that there is one place in my video where it says "core" when it should say "cover", so now I gotta fix that or people will be confused.

    Splicing double braid

Yes, this is the standard double-braid splice that is described in the Samson splicing manual. The only difference is that I use some tricks that make it easier than the methods used in the manual. For example, using a wire fid and reducing the volume on the core tail makes it much easier to...

I had the same reaction, but then I did a search on the Buzz for Stitch Hitch, and up popped all the pretty pictures from Brocky! More cool innovation on the Buzz.

    Scion/ tachyon splicing instructions

Another option with Tachyon is to alternate a 3-4 pattern from Mark T until you have 6 pairs marked. This gives a taper that is a bit easier to bury. I don't think it matters in terms of rope strength, as long as you get a nice long taper all the way to the end.

    Scion/ tachyon splicing instructions

The fid is just used to do the initial layout for the splice. What you want is for the cover to taper gradually over its entire length where it is buried inside the core, from mark T on the rope to the end. This is done by following the manufacturer's directions for the cover taper. For...

    Premium Ropes Splicing Instructions

Yeah, I knew it was not the same splice, I was just bitching about how bad it was. Another option for parallel core ropes would be the Marlowbraid splices for ropes like Vega that we have talked about before. I have done several of them and they work ok. But they are a pain in the butt, at...

Beeline 8MM core and sheath eye splice

The attached photo shows 3 examples of what you are talking about. Two of them are well used and the third is one I made this morning just to refresh my memory. There is no on-line video of how to do these splices that I am aware of. But if you know how to do a Class 1 double-braid splice in...

    Premium Ropes Splicing Instructions

I realize this response does not directly address the type of rope you are interested in, but I went to the Premium Rope website this morning and watched their video on how to do a double braid splice in polyester rope. Hated it for so many reasons. If you follow their example with a tightly...

Beeline 8MM core and sheath eye splice

Maybe, but most of the strength is in the core strands, so it wouldn't make much difference in strength.

Beeline 8MM core and sheath eye splice

Arghhhh! Never mind guys. The pictures I showed in the previous post are Ocean Poly, not Bee Line. I got in a rush and was thinking about double braid splices in Ocean Poly as opposed to Bee Line. Sorry about the confusion.
