That’s what we use. Very user friendly in the tree.

    Show off them splices

Recently I have been resplicing my employees climbing lines. Did one yesterday that was so dirty that I had to wash it first. It was so filthy I couldn’t get the core out. Being a contract climber my gear lasted forever. I would throw out ropes based on age rather than because it was worn...

    Velcroed Tops, Spiderman and Treeson

The rules are there to protect the workers who otherwise can get really screwed if they get injured. I’m perfectly happy to play by the rules in both Oregon and Washington.

    Burning out

As mentioned in an earlier post in this thread, we hired someone else to do most of our sales and business development stuff for us and it has been helpful. The stress never goes away and I think we all just have to learn to manage it and the situations that cause it better. Overcommitting to...

Hiring a climber/ employee from out of area

    Today....

Sometimes we do good things. Sometimes we do bad things. I think significant reduction pruning is preferable to removal and replacement in this case.

    Hiring in Hood River Oregon

Hiring for a lead climber as one of our crew leads is moving to pursue another opportunity. Looking for a certified arborist that loves to do all types of tree work with a great team. We typically work 4 days a week Monday through Thursday so plenty of time to do all the fun things here in...

    How's the work flow?

Call volume is very low but we have been staying booked out at least a few weeks thanks to some big jobs and repeat clients. Still very disconcerting since we went up to two crews this year. At times it feels like we are buried and are going to be very busy. Other times it feels a bit scary.

They are brand new but they look well set up to do a good job of it. I’m a pretty dedicated MRS climber so I’m really the wrong guy to ask.
