Today....

Trees have absolutely no respect for people's property, so they grow any which way they want.

Just yesterday a big limb from my neighbor's oak fell on my prized blueberry bush. I was so intent on getting it off that I didn't think to get the camera. With some planning and careful use of the pole saw and chainsaw there was only minor damage to the bush. The berries are looking good, and there's LOTS of them.

Spent the last 2 weeks in central PA at my daughter's. Grandsons 16th birthday was good to be at. He asked for chainsaw training which we did. He also got chainsaw pantsas well. Already had all the other needed PPE from a previous b-day. I pruned HIS tree, planted when he was born along with his sisters tree.

Yep, I find myself making those kind of calculations/tradeoffs all the time in my area. Since most people tend to be on 2, 5, 10 acres, choosing to address a few trees for the sake of a view to keep people happy means the rest of the trees, hundreds or even thousands on large properties, remain effectively 'protected' and people are happy to live among them.

(in the case of my earlier photos, that one was coming out due to root rot and proximity to the local vet)
