I would never be offended by such a question/comment, in fact I appreciate it. My father taught me to "remain teachable".
Anyhow ...so for me, I send up my spliced end of the rope over a branch TIP, and than I use a running bowline backed up with a couple half hitches and ill put a carabiner in...
You guys rule! Thank you so much. I have a good idea of what I will replace my Haas with now when that time comes.
Now I just need to replace these old eye to eyes with something newer. I think I will keep using the Samson rope I have as it is low stretch and works great for both SRT ascent or...
Hey guys just getting back into climbing and hoping to upgrade my setup to something more streamlined / optimized. I have not looked into changing this setup in yearsss and could use some help :)

Hi all,
Life things have happened but now am I making my comeback doing some weekend warrior work for myself. In what feels like a previous lifetime now I was a somewhat progressive climber for what was available at the time. I had some random thoughts, questions I was hoping to run by you all...
What are your thoughts on utilizing your climbing/rigging/pruning and arbor-cultural practices that you've learned here in the U.S to travel around Europe? what are the challenges? I can think of one...Lugging rigging gear around!!!
I have urges to travel across Europe and tree work is all I...
amazing job, how many slings to do you carry on ur harness when zipping out a big tree like that? was curious if u have a ton of them or if you keep having them sent up to you? also, im fairly new to rigging down wood, do you have to worry about that block hitting your cinched line when it comes...
hello tree buzz, I am often a weekend warrior doing tree work. for a while now I have been saving up to buy a chipper truck and have decided it would be best for me not to get a larger sized truck this time around anyways. Although the 15-20 yard chipper bodys are awesome it would be too much...
how did climbers rig down the wood before arborist blocks? Now I know about using a half hitch when u have a stub to hold it from sliding down the trunk but what if there was no branches for like 50 feet and you had to lower sections of wood to avoid a target?
-newschool climber :)
you guys are very skilled and can make the the pieces you cut you whatever you please through your rigging....Your groundies must love how easy you make their job...I am wondering a little though, Where you guys getting fancy with the rigging just for the sake of the video and showing how...
subject really sums it up.
What have you all found is the "cap" in your area?
And do you find you can make more as the best around at doing 1 thing? like being the "removal guy" in your area?
or do you find you can do better being the jack all all trades..planting,tree...
good question I was wondering the same......So more than a few times this has happened to the crew : pulling over a backleaner with not enough mechanical advantage or man power. (oops) so we just grab another short line and throw one end of the rope over the pull line and hang on it just like...
I am wondering how safe you all would feel climbing with this bridge.
heres a link to the new sequoia harness and you can see the bridge is just a sewn eye.
A local guy told me if you were to knick one of those white threads the side of that splice the whole splice would fail. If this were...
EDIT: I have no choice but to take it slow.....its tough working for a place with noone to help you through the learning curve. However I am smart enough at least to know when I could be trying something to advanced or over my head. Hard to resist the urge to switch companies...
