Chipper body dump bed inserts

Donald, In the very late '80's or early '90's there was a company in Ohio that was manufacturing all aluminum chip dump bodies and tool boxes for 1 tom F-350 tyoe trucks. I can't remember exactly where they were located or how you might find them. Can you give any details on your pic, as it looks like a sweet rig for a pruning crew for sure. Hook a good 6" or 9" chipper to that puppy and go make $$$$.

Waste of capital to invest in one of those. Minimum 19,500 gvw and 12" chipper req'd
Who makes those rules? Personally I think it makes good sense for Mr. Robertson at this point in his business development. From previous posts he is develoing his business slowly on a part time basis and apparently is close to a position where he will be buying a chipper and needs something to chip into. Big trucks cost a lot, have high operational and insurance costs and may not make a good business move for him. A truck as shown will allow him to develop further without overextending his finances but still present a professional image. On top of that, he could equip the truck with a snow plow and continue to make money in the winter when tree work slows. I personally would like to have such a set up with a Vermeer 935 chipper behind it to work with.

Mine was not the expression of a "rule". It was opinion.

Additionally; I am entitled to a well grounded opinion, which it was. Attached as evidence.24933-TB Truck pic1.webp

The unit was how I started the enterprise I lead. It towed a Bandit 65AW. Were I to go back? I would forgo the "cute" set up and get a tower right out of the gate. Getting through work requires velocity, velocity requires capacity and functionality.

Running the roads dumping chips grows old fast.

The insert is now on a (POS) 2008 F350 4x4. Its a people mover, periodically filled with a few chunks of wood. We keep the truck for use with a plow. All other production units are 26,000lb or better.

To me it sounded like you were dissing the guy for even asking the question and that he has to go in "this" direction. I'm happy that you are doing as well as you say you are and hope it continues for you. Again, Mr. Roberston, from his posts seems to be quite cautious in developing his business. He has asked numerous questions, has been studying to become a CA, and in general, seems to have a desire to grow that business in a positive way. Certainly such a unit gives a better impression than a beat up pickup with a trailer. Since your unit is, for the most part out of service, maybe you could offer to sell it to him.
