Now I think about it, it's not a easy thing to upgrade to the newer one. How to remove the thread in that 2 hole. it might be tough with the angle. Now I'm wondering if this is indeed a 2003 modle or earlier one. It has a serial number of 004004. anyone know?
Took the old anvil off the machine, pretty rounded. instead of flip it, I might just upgraded to the newer design with two banjo bolts.
installed muffler. adjusted the governor spring position and set screw to get as close to 3600 rpm as possible. it's a very stupid design on the 23 HP Kohler...
I was told that it's better to post in this forum. Thx
As most of you guys knew that I recently picked up that chipper for a good price of 5500. Want to start this thread to give update on my restoration progress and of course, asking you all experts for opinions and help also to document what...

So. No clutch. Guess I just have to make sure nothing left behind in the flywheel chamber before shut it down. There is no play on the flywheel nor the feeding wheel when I tried hard to wiggle them. Also the feeding wheel teeth look sharp so the hour count is true
it's definately square. Also, surprised to see no clutch (tensioner kind like the vermeer). when u crank start the engine, the flywheel spins too. Also, the flywheel is half as think as my 6" vermeer.
If I were to buy this before I had my 250, it won’t be such a shocking disappointment when I first saw the 65 in person. My first chipper was the Vermeer 620 later repowered with a 25 hp engine. It served me well for 12 years.
the 65 looks more like a neat toy, the feed table is sooo small even...
