Today....

Friday was great as well. Lots of 1" deadwood on the 4th ranked Swamp Chestnut oak in Virginia. 3 climbers in this tree. Truly a stellar training day for me. SO much mentorship. I'd get to my spot and do my work and if it was a tough travel to get to where I wanted to go I was told to go back to the beginning and do it again for practice and finesse. That was really helpful. @Winchman every day has been growth. Easing into it doesn't seem to be the plan. Jumping right in the deep end is the MO.IMG_0171.jpegIMG_0167.jpeg

Some easy bucket work, would have been a real pain to have to climb all the trees I did here in like 90 minutes.
I can see the staunch climb-only crowd having a point when referring to certain types of jobs…super tall trees, inaccessible trees, dense crown trees needing interior work, etc. There’s truth in that. Sometimes.

But give a good climber a bucket and watch what happens!

Seems like you got the radiator situation figured out?

Yah, that was just caked on debris causing overheating when I bought it and drove it home, I've had new problems since then! :p Mostly small things, but it did need a whole new engine wiring harness, which was NOT cheap. Lots of coating on the wires had cracked off (presumably from the added heat of spending its life in Nevada) which was throwing a bunch of codes. Other than some hoses, wires and missing parts, which are all pretty much addressed now, it's been treating me well.

That’s good to hear. I have a 20 year old mini-ex that gave me fits with issues. Thankfully the local dealership’s road tech is an ace and knew how to find where the issues were. The harness was rubbed down in several places from vibration over the years causing shorts in a few circuits. He traced the whole harness, found and fixed them all. That was not cheap either, but well worth it every time I use the machine. Glad to hear your truck is tight now. Keep that puppy goin’!

Today I got to be Arborist Dad for my daughter’s kindergarten class. Before school, she picked up her paintbrush and made the painting you can see at the base pf the tree. It has a mama bird in it.

It was a hugely heartwarming time for me, and a few reports have trickled in that it was the highlight of some kids’ days.

Another homeowner cleanup.

Alder wrecking after walking down the hung-up doug-fir (expendable plants survived along with two golden chain trees flanking the driveway). Pictures of that later. Not too big a deal.
