Today....

So, I didn't wanna celebrate too early, but I just wrapped up my first week with a new company and things seem to be really flowing nicely. I finally found fulltime hours at $30 with fully paid for benefits, including some legendary retirement pay, and the boss buys us lunch every day. Also the first CA I have had a chance to work for. This week I have been climbing 150'-180' tall 4'DBH pondos; removals and pruning. I would have taken pics, but they were down in a draw, so none of the angles ever looked impressive. I haven't met an arb this cool around here. Single crew outfit; totally my style. Oh, and he builds his own saws.

Congratulations sounds like a great place

Here was my today playing roof cleaner of finer debris and wood poked into a roof and solar panels . Metel roofs must be good for shedding snow cause it wanted to shed my ass quickly get a little sawdust under your boot and forget it !

Power company contractor got tree off house except what they couldn’t , and that’s why I got a call from a friend. I was sub of a sub to restoration company whom was itching to get the rest off so they could tarp the roof . This home was on the news and got really hammered clean up crew coming this week to finish
Power was supposedly off but I saw battery lights flashing green on back up system and believe it was being back fed somewhere so it was sketchy with power lines everywhere and exposed wires near the solar panels . Next time I see you I’d like to get the scoop on how you managed it. I’ve done a few where I whittled the top out to the last supporting piece and then picked out the trunk, but that one looked bridged pretty high. Did you use your lift at all or just climb? Looks like a doozy.

Haha yea for my portion best I could do was Stihl battery hand blow on the roof. There’s a ton of clean up around on ground looks like a bomb went off.
In those situations, I figure the homeowner might want some therapeutic rake time. I mean it. That was no easy task and it looks like you got it down without anything else getting damaged. I like those jobs.

Last one before I leave for my trip. Today I was on the mainland doing some last-minute shopping and swung by Home Depot. As I went to get some bar oil, I saw some boxed Echo saws on the floor and was surprised to see the store selling the gas 2511T, but next to it, was the battery 2500T. Online on the HD site its listed for $629 as a kit (saw, battery and charger) and the price tag in the store said 'normal price' $499, but for some reason it was being sold for $239!

I already have one (with a 1/4" pitch conversion which is well worth it) but it's a great little pruning saw so I bought another as a backup. No idea if this is commonly stocked at brick-and-mortar stores, nor if this price is widespread, but certainly worth looking into if you want a tiny battery saw and have a store close by.

Glad you found one. I bought one in December for $215 plus tax on clearance at HD. I used it again Friday and even cut a 12” branch. It worked as long as you don’t force it. I do like to prune with it. I’m watching for another battery on clearance too!

The battery is sometimes sold with a blower as a kit almost as cheap as battery alone. (Blower is weak compared to a Husky batt blower.)

At $215 or anything sub $300 I would buy another saw kit to get the additional battery.
