I don’t work on many softwoods but we raised the canopy on this Norway spruce to get it away from 2 roofs this evening. I hit a pocket of sap. It was being flung out by my battery saw and the saw cut out a few times. It was flowing out like syrup and landing on my climb line. I didn’t want my groundie to move it as he had to hold the rigging line and it would have placed him under the load had he moved in.

I’ve never experienced such flow before. Is it a common occurrence?

Ha! Last Thursday my buddy was telling me that he was out logging and cut down a ponderosa that did that out of the whole log and spewed a couple of gallons of sap. Q:vomito:

Now you know why Akimbos are not good for softwood work. You would be stuck up in that tree still. They bugger up with a bit of balsam sap.

I nearly had my Unicender sent up! I love the dexterity of the Akimbo but enjoy the invulnerability of the Uni. Fortunately it was second to last cut before the job was complete.

Right as my shoulder was about ready to let me return to work, my back started acting up again... Ugh.

But I've used the time to finally repaint my homemade truck box. Now that it no longer looks like crap, was thinking about finally making a video tour/explanation of it.

New employee is doing great so far. Part time only and can still count the number of trees climbed on one hand, but did great today on an alder removal as I gave instructions from the ground.

Not tree related but this is what I did today. Last race of the year and time to call it quits for winter. Was a tad cold with the air temp around 50 during the race. Water temps about the same. I'm the one in the blue life jacket. Terry on deck and Joel next to me are my teammates. We came in first, as always. Old man, my ass.
