Today....

Sorry Mark. I obviously don't post enough. I didn't notice the date on the post I was asking about. It was the first post of this thread. Hope all is good with you.
The dead oak was at Rutgers U for a class I was teaching. Probably had bacterial leaf scorch like many have in that area. You are probably correct, but I couldn't really say as it isn't my strong suit there.

Some flooring for our under construction house. Bringing a decent load for kilning tomorrow and then having them plane and do t+g. Birch, white oak, red maple, hophornbeam (thinking stair treads), and 30”+ pine. The hornbeam was 15” diameter which is rare for here, hard as a mofo, and really neat wavy character

Well, my back is still out and I might not be able to work this whole week either. Moving around instead of sitting down all day helps, so I went for a walk this morning on a ~350 acre preserve a few minutes from the house. Most of the region was clear-cut long ago, but this area still has a handful of old growth including some massive firs, cedars and big leaf maple. Very green this time of year.

Any of y’all familiar enough with yellow sac spiders to ID these guys? I’m afraid I already know the answer, but I’m wrong about shit all the time.

We bought this home about a month ago, and I must’ve killed 20 of them so far. Here’s 21 and 22. Rest In Peace in a paper towel in the garbage can. Kinda cool looking though.

I appreciate the kind words Venas. Nothing special about what were doing. Same tools and technique, but the trees are a little bigger than most here see in their daily work lives...

I did some Arbor Day stuff. Any chance I get to talk about how great trees are, how to choose them, plant them, care for them... I'm all over it! Thanks to my friends at STIHL for the opportunity!
