The latest Matt Cornell harness

I couldn't agree more with DSMc concerning the material used on the original back pad and leg pads. Fucking perfect, so I sure hope he doesn't mess with that aspect on the new saddle.

Organizing gear on a rainy days and I just couldn't resist. 2 shiny new OG MCRS's!!

Ok, now we have photographic evidence of the existence of our target. I've forwarded this to the Pentagon, along with our application for some DOD Slush Fund cash to finance our invasion of your sawdust factory. Do you happen to have a picture of Bigfoot, too? I know a guy, who knows a guy in Philly that will pay pretty good money for one.

If you nancy ass nitwits somehow manage to get through me, them my pet bigfoot (Cedric) will finish the job, and together we will feast on your brains and pinky toes.....

Wow a lot happens here when i'm gone. Sheesh 87 posts of a whole lot of expected stuff including @swingdude oh so carefully explained feelings on everything. It wouldn't be him if he didn't call everything he doesn't like-shit. Thats why we love him.

I appreciate the shout out @rico Honestly I dislike my TM for many reasons. Hurts my hips, straps slide in the buckles and just doesn't feel good on me. I don't ride the spar all day so I think I have the roundedness to evaluate it compared to other harnesses i've tried.

I have to say, the new saddle is so nice. It addresses so many things that could have been better with the first version. There are only 2 things I don't like about it. 1. I understand giving the end user the ability to string it up in any manner they choose. I, however, am not that guy. I'm not smart enough, or enough of a tinkerer to reinvent the wheel. I would most likely string it up exactly how the old ones were. I'll let a much more skilled person figure it out and then i'll steal their idea.

2. So i'm gonna say it. I'm really thinking the saddle looks like a weaver product. No matter how great it is, no matter how strongly I feel about supporting Matt after the last disaster.......
If it's weaver i'm not going to buy it. I like Matt. I love Richard and what he has tried to do for the entire industry through multiple videos, volunteering, financial support, innovative gadgets, and a general participation in the grand scheme of things. I am a strong willed person and I would rather ride a shitty saddle and be miserable than support Weaver. What they are doing is wrong on so many levels. I will not give them any of my money, under any circumstances. I feel the same about TS. I will never shop there, no matter what they have and how bad I need it. I just can't. If I let go of all this hate inside me i'll crumble, Its all that keeps me standing. LOL

I hope it's not a weaver product. I really really do, because I wan't it so bad, but if it is............can't do it.

PS..........I have 2 MCRS, size 1 and size 2. Guess who I got my second one from...........????

PSS When I replaced the rope on the saddle, I had it custom spliced because I couldn't give the money to TS/ST. Cost me more but I didn't support what I don't believe in.

Great honest post Mr. Connally. Are you suggesting that Matt might coordinate with Weaver on this harness? If so that is a real bummer, because like yourself I cannot and will not purchase their products any longer and hopefully many others in this industry feel as we do.. I didn't plan on buying one as I love my OG saddles , but a bummer none the less.....

Sorry about your TM experience and I'm a little shocked to hear you dnever warmed to it... Your opinion is shit, so who cares what you think? :fuckyou: ( I believe this might be my first or second emoji)

I'm still waiting for a picture of your customized MCRS bro..

See what you missed. You should poke your head in the door a little more often.

Just to be clear, so far it’s just suspicion and possibility that it’ll be a Weaver product, correct? Does anyone know for sure yet or is he keeping mum about it?

Could be any manufacturer I guess.

Too bad Climbing Innovations doesn’t make a saddle, I’d love to see what he would come up with.

My opinions is shit @rico. I can climb in the TM just fine but it's by far not my favorite ever. I just don't think it suits my hips well. I have to crank the ever loving shit out of the waist strap before I leave the ground, then again when I get in the tree, then again later and after just a little while my hips are killing me from pinching and whatnot. If I didn't do that, it would be riding like an adult diaper.

I HAVE NO SOLID INFORMATION ON WHO IS BUILDING THE SADDLE, SUSPICION ONLY. So a lot of effort was taken to tell us, in the video, he would not be revealing the manufacturer of the saddle. Who else makes solid leather products like that? Looks like their work. I don't know but I really want to. If I knew it wasn't them I could help dispel that rumor for him.

Id like the new saddle personally!! I will get you a pic tomorrow of my saddle. It's exactly the same except the rope is green

Steve, the issue with the TM is that the quick release buckle does not actually allow you to adjust it perfectly where you want it, it is always an approximation and adjustments are often needed during a climb session for example when you take a layer off or add a layer. The buckle cannot be adjusted when it is engaged and even if you luckily have it adjusted just right for the moment it fights you when you try to close it. Also, the webbing strap tends to slip slowly through the buckle during climb sessions, it might only be millimeters but it's enough to piss a climber off. It's been my continuous rant on this otherwise great harness as many know.

The TM Super Light is awesome because it doesn't have a quick release buckle and you can cinch it exactly where you want it and adjust as much as you need no problem during a climb. If a climber doesn't like the stock thinner waist belt pad just rip it out and replace with the regular TM waist belt pad. As far as quick releases go on the leg straps, you still have to "step through" to get into the legs on the regular TM with the quick releases open so a minor inconvenience with the TM Super Light to open up the buckle straps and readjust with the harness on, it's an easy/quick adjustment.

As people also likely know I simply ditched the quick release buckle off my TM waist strap and installed a life support quality spec'd and sewn slider buckle that stays put however tight or loose I adjust it, plus two years and it passes a practical inspection every pre-climb. TM Super Light is the easy no-mod way to get to a great harness.

The "feature degradation" on the TM S. Light, like the non-life support quality red ring on the back and no quick releases on the legs reminds me of the typical artificial price points created by laptop/tablet/phone manufacturers like Apple etc. to create an appearance of economical offerings while at the same time implying "You're really looking at shit here, go for the expensive one that has all the best features!" The lower priced ones aren't shit, they're just the partially gutted out same thing. Back in the day I did off-market ROM (read only memory) hacks on my "Pro" Canon SLR camera's to get the same features on my cheaper version model as the expensive one. Some things never change.

Which is another reason why I like Matt Cornell's approach, no bullshit, making it happen and making it happen so climbers who like to customize extensively or as little or as much as they need can. Preaching over, thank you.

Thanks so much AJ. Your insight is super helpful. I’m actually planning on going a totally different direction on my future saddle. If the new MCRS isn’t Weaver I’ll likely get it. Mostly because I love the old school things about it. What I’m waiting for is the new camp class 3 harness that meets he standards for arb and industrial rope access. I wanna rock a class 3 for a while. I need to get some pressure off my hips and with my skinny self I think it’ll ride better.

Yer welcome, I offer what I know, everyone else knows way more about tree work than I do, though I'm definitely getting better at it ;-)

I'm certifiably skinnier than you most likely TM Regular with slider buckle gives me near zero issues with hip/waist/pinch pain. After a super long day and depending what my tasks were i can get some pain points by end of day. I gave up on the Sequoia (first gen) after some long days, it hurt me all the time when I was running bigger saws etc. probably suspenders would've helped but no need for them with the TM for my climb/work style. Going for a Class 3 sounds a worthy experiment.
