The latest Matt Cornell harness

Can someone tell me how the leg pads are on the original? And this one too if possible. I’m just wondering if they’re rigid at all like if there’s any firm reinforcement in them from plastic or something or are they just leather and padding/cushion?

I had heard a rumor that Matt was coming out with his second version and was glad to see this thread posted. I've just semi retired my MCRS a month ago and currently have a Monkey Beaver. I liked the MCRS very much and the only negative I have about it is getting into it. Age is creeping up and joints unfortunately seem to be getting stiffer making it a bitch. I met Matt several years ago at the Charlotte comp when he had his beautifully tooled leather prototype that was based on an old Kuemmerling #1 rope saddle. That type addle is the first saddle I climbed in over 40 years ago at a time when leg loop saddles were shunned by most climbers. Those original #1's were bomb proof and the 3.5 inch waistbelt was uncomfortable as hell but it kept my ass up in the trees. That Matt has selected Endor's to reveal his newest is, to me, a complement to the history of Karl Kuemmerling Inc and a tie from the past to the present to the future. I doubt I will live long enough to ever need another new saddle but if by chance I do, there is a good chance it will be a V2. All the best to you Matt on this next phase.

There is a bit of history and they are close to where kuemmerlings was. Maria is a sweetheart and like a lot of the smaller supply business's needs to be supported with our $$$.

I didn't know they existed before the video at the top of this thread. I grew up in that area...was there 5 times in the past month - each time driving by on Route 30 within a couple hundred yards of the place. Then I learn about them after I got back home. Not sure when I'll be over that way again, but hopefully can stop in.

I just bought the Tree Austria 3.2 to hold me off until Matt's latest comes out. I kept kicking myself for not getting the original while it was still available. Durability and comfort are paramount for me.

The new version looks like what I might have done to the original, if I had bought one, was too afraid I would spend the rest of my life customizing and changing things on it. The use of 16 strand rope on the original looks to be one of the compromises Matt mentioned.

Treemo. That is his stance. Everyone else should throw in the towel.
I can certainly understand Swings stance on the TM. I stupidly gave away my beloved TreeMo S.Light to a local up-and-coming climber, so I have been without one for quite awhile now. Recently purchased a new one and damn I am sure glad I have one back in my life. Just a stunning harness.....

When most of the wear and tear on a saddle is from it rubbing on the workbench as you modify things, add stuff, remove stuff, change it all around again, change this part out for a prettier one, remove all the metal parts and polish them before reassembling the thing.... you know you have a problem. Just sayin' cuz I have... er... my friend has done that.

Admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery.

I am still wondering when yourself, Moss, Evo, and that Crocodile Dundee wannabe mutherfucker are thinking about coming down here and trying to extract a MCRS from me. I am extremely busy and its gonna be tough for me to find an hour or so in my schedule to kick the living snot out of you clowns. If you could narrow it down for me a little it would be much appreciated...

I got a 2018 model TM (that was manufactured in April? They're just calling the single bridge one last year's model, I guess.) I miss my S.Light. this thing is a boat anchor by comparison.

The S. Light is a better saddle than the regular model plain and simple. Besides being lighter it is also much more comfy. People get all hung up on padding, but the most important part of a comfy saddle is a back-pad that truly conforms to your hip/pelvic girdle. The S. Light does this better than any saddle I have ever worn, including the MCRS. The S. Light is the only harness I have ever worn that will sometimes just disapear, in that I forget I'm wearing a saddle. The waist belt on the S.Light is also exponentially better than the one on the standard model. No slippage ever, and you can always get it right where you want it, no matter what clothing you are wearing on any given day. If you can live with the step through leg pads it is a no brainer, and IMHO the best saddle currently available on the market.

You are preaching to the choir. I can work with this heavy bastard, but I know what I'm missing.
