Looks like it’s been about a year and a half since the Adjustable BDB was released. Has anyone worn out the top bollard yet?
Are anymore “updates” in the planning for the BDB?
I dunno if anyone has replied to you, I have just replaced the bollard on mine after using it everyday for about a year. I bomb out of most trees which probably caused a lot of wear.

@arbormonkey; Great first post! Welcome to the TreeBuzz forum! I think you are going to like it here!

Feel free to keep jumping in. I'd love to hear more from you.

Tim
Thanks for the warm welcome!! I've been lurking and learning gobs on this forum from the educated pros here since my first arborist employer turned me on almost 5 years ago. I'll try to drop some more lines and add to the good buzz vibes.

You are welcome! You probably do this already, but you should also check out the Tree House forum if you can. Slightly different vibe, but there are a lot of veteran climbers on that forum, also. Not taking anything away from the Buzz; I love this place.

I'll have to check that out

It is very easy to mod the Bone to have two attach points at the bottom teardrop if you want to experiment.
Just remove the half link pin that holds the teardrop in place, and re-install the teardrop using a full link.
you can capture a short 1" wide loop runner if you want on the free end of the full link. (the link is actually 0.9" wide)
This will not make it self advancing on a doubled line by itself, unless you prussic the top of the Bone to the standing line,
but who knows what you may come up with, just proceed low and slow.

Wow, a well-chewed Bone indeed! Looks like some sort of DIY electroplating or anodizing, a 3-step process (3 different buckets in the photos?) with a battery charger as the first step. This guy is a real inspiration.

Anodizing - first step is an acid bath to create a porous surface on the metal, that's why he is positive charging the bits.
Second bath is just dye.
Third is boiling in a conditioner to close the pores and seal the color in.

He did a really nice job and got the chemical balance right.

... I may have played with this in my basement with an early prototype Akimbo, I may have not mentioned to my wife that there was a tub of acid down there. Maybe.
