zigzag zag slipping

I've read of more than one Climber complaining of slip within a year of use. I don't know about protocol here when it comes to mentioning other forums but it was on a UK forum where they talk about arboriculture.
Hahaha, appreciate the repsect, but I'm fine with mentioning any of them whenever. :)

Yes without touching it I just start to slide down the rope randomly, doesn't matter if it's through friction saver, pulley, natural crotch, and I have been on three ropes with it, If mess with it I can usually get it to grab, after I get myself stopped sliding. Maybe I'm just spoiled by my dealings with treestuff.com, I have no agenda to promote them and they aren't perfect but their way of dealing with issues is yes sir it will be taken care of, where as I feel just treated like a pest at Sherrill

I'd be surprised if Petzl don't respond to you in short time to go through the process of establishing if the product is under warranty and organising a replacement. Have you read this page? There's a likely looking email address there, and they say they respond within two days.

Arbtalk I believe, I have been on it and am a member, granted its been a while but I followed all the ZZ chat and still did not hear that while I was following the cracked unit issue which I also had. Anyway if you are persistent you will likely be asked to send it in for inspection I bet. I always got fast responses (with Petzl) . Link this thread to them. A vid like mentioned above would do wonders for your cause. Good luck.

I'd love to hear how you get on with the SpiderJack, after you've had a chance to use it for a bit. Thanks in advance if you choose to do so.

Well pretty straight forward , 1st tree for a few hours, need to finesse it a bit more and maybe would be better on a line with less stretch, feels trustworthey, I would like to see a pulley on the edge like the zigzag, so I could double or triple crotch when rappelling, and to tend slack when their isn't wieght of rope to self tend

I believe it's a sticky, tar-like substance that gets onto the ropes of those climbers that work in pine trees or similar varieties, a lot. The term might be pitch-pine, I'm not sure. It is really sticky stuff that fouls up the climbing line, and I think it frequently gets into various pieces of ascending/descending hardware or the climbing hitches themselves and jams them up, making it difficult for climbers to descend.

Thus far I've been able to avoid climbing in conifers, and therefore have no direct experience with the stuff.

I believe Sean meant it as a joke.

Two more small things. I think it might be a real chore to try and get pitch out of a rope. I'd love to hear tips from the experienced guys on that score, so that I'll know how to handle it if and when I do get pitch on my ropes.

The second thing is, all you need to do to get a feel for the stuff is to walk up to any pine tree that's available and rub your hands on the branches and pine needles. I'm thinking your hands will come away sticky.
