X-ring, ring and ring sling info

I'll buy some off you. Lol

That's a real problem for gear junkies! Are you the one that wanted to know how to do a double ended locking Brummell for a Ring to Ring sling? If so, I can show you how easy it really is to do. Z's Trees, said how to already but I may have time this weekend to video a demo with some scrap tenex for both types of slings, actually. First I have to setup my GoPro to my MacBook Pro. I believe I can do it with the "capture" app. I'm not certain. That's gonna have to be a different thread! How-to make a downloadable video to the forum! [emoji30]

That's straight bury in tenex correct? I think we've covered this, just being sure.
Yes, Raven27. A straight bury is adequate. Just follow the splicing guidelines for the Class of the rope (1 or 2). All of the info you need is in the Samson Splicing Guide that you mentioned. Read through it carefully as not to over build or under build your product. I'd also recommend putting some numbers to your work and break test some gear before putting a ground man beneath it.

Here's a couple ring slings I made a while ago. I really like the single ring ultrasling. I also decided to splice the double ended ring sling in double braid because it's much easier and secure in my opinion. I went with 20 mm serius bull rope solely for the color scheme...gotta keep it fresh.View attachment 43161
I like that style of ultra, so is the ring splice a straight bury there?

I think the Sirius line series are nice to splice and make nice slings.

I thought it spliced quite nicely. The mbs is lower than stablebraid or dynasorb but not by much. I don't have much experience with the Sirius ropes but they seem to be nice cordage.

The sirius lines are super tough and abrasion resistant. I am definitely a fan after having used the 14mm line heavily for the better part of a year.

I always wondered if the lower strength numbers were because teufelberger uses a different measurement standard than most american rope manufacturers. That or its the 32strand plait.

Well then, I'm gonna have to place another order after last nights with TreeStuff, just bought $350, worth of X Rings! I don't know what I'm gonna do with all this Stable Braid, do you use any chafing material with the Sirius, Z? I've got 50-75' of 1 1/2", and 35-45' of 1" lying about, but I usually keep that for my Hollow Braid splices.

I haven't used sirius as a sling, just as a rigging line and now the little 8mm for trt.
That said I dont use chafe sleeves on any slings, I have never found a need and am fine with replacing slings every so often.
