Wraptor soon to be unavailable

Steve just saw your post, Robbie took 6 weeks off to go work in Hawaii . He will be back next week unless you know something I don't ??

You guys with a Wraptor, is there anything special I should know that was not covered in the manual or the YouTube vids? Should have it soon and hoping to try it Monday afternoon.

Nope. Although, first time you get to the top you'll be unprepared. Have your lanyard ready and always leave about a foot of slack between the Wraptor and the branch you're over. You'll need that slack to disconnect and send it back down. Have fun.

Take everything with you that you need in the tree, saw ,lowering rope, block. For me it was a very weird feeling gliding up the rope, almost like you are not tied in as the rope moves through the device so rapidly, took a bit to get comfy with it. Anybody else have that feeling?

I actually think that is going to be my first response also. Like everything else it will take some time to trust it. I am figuring my first low and slows will just be base anchor, run up some, ddrt down from Wraptor, lower Wraptor, repeat for a while. Then find a low branch and move on to coming off Wraptor and such. I think I will be looking at trees in a whole new way as afar as working them.

Well I got my rope and bag today but no Wraptor yet, apparently it is being drop shipped. Such a sad day after stalking the fedex guy all day.

It should come with a little bottle of "Elevator Scent"... a mixture of cheap Walmart perfume and stale farts.... combined with some elevator music from your mp3 player, and the illusion is complete.

No vid yet but I did spend about an hour today just riding the elevator up and down. Wanted to get used to hooking it up, starting it, bombing down in an emergency. Screwed that up the first time, forgot about the safety tether still attached to my bridge. Hopefully tomorrow I can work on clipping into the tree and setting up my climbing line. I was working with various friction savers on the ground to see what makes the most sense with this style of climbing. While I have all the styles I have always preferred the tubes but they don't really lend themselves to this.

Bring your friction saver up with you and attach it when you get there. That will bring your hitch closer to the unit. Make up a carrier like for a roll of tape on an electricians belt.

I think too many would use them as a work platform if they were reversible. This could lead to more falls from line cutting. I know I do not tie in twice while on the Wraptor. Although I only cut what's in my way.
