If I was hot Id do it. is there going to be a goofy lookin arb calendar?

[/ QUOTE ]

I think goofy can be good... maybe we need a few possible categories... artistic, humorous, studly... with your work equipment, w/ only your own "equipment". LOL
That should include something for everyone, right?

maybe a guys/girls calendar interpreting the Adam & Eve theme... the whole "tree of knowledge" visual possibilities. Lots of myths revolve around trees... but now I'm getting complicated.

Maybe basic is best... "beautiful" people in beautiful trees. Seems to me when someone is really happy to be in a tree, they're somehow beautiful.

and to answer the weird alien guy... abs are abs, but some are "sixier" than others

that's a great shot Tom. Love it
maybe "acrobatic" should be another category. It doesn't have to be all "beef cake" or "cheese cake" as Tom D says.

Oh people, I am a good instigator, but not a very good organizer... LOL
we need someone to get this "off the ground" ... I'm not a bad punster, tho :)

I'll skip over the February is a short month comment...just too easy.

I'll start my crunches and pull-ups tomorrow. I should be ready by 2013.

Rhonda W. has been doing the "If I don't die I'll look pretty damn good" cross training recently. I nominate her for Thursday.

If it's for charity, I'll be there in the geezers section, just this once. As long as I don't have to audition again.

Being a feminist, I'm always looking for equality... so where are the vids of the men showing off some of the tree-working muscles I've heard a few brag about on here? ;)

OK, I'm done now.
Cheers

After reading all of your posts in the several threads regarding this male calendar for charity idea, I'm beginning to think you don't understand what feminism really is. Which is ok, but highly hilarious to me. Feminists usually hate men. I get a distinct opposite impression that the last thing you do is hate men. I'm just saying

Not me who claimed to be a feminist, Phil.
I wouldn't dare put words in Laurie's mouth and she can reply if she chooses to, but I'm pretty sure all of us enjoy working with men a great deal.
grin.gif

I've worked more often with men than women in my life and my philosophy is to do what I am capable of without making any kind of deal about being a woman doing it. I can do something or I can't. Step aside if I can't. Step up if I can.
I have never faced much discrimination from men at a personal level, but I have many times at the institutional level.
When I was in the army reserves, non-combat unit, I was on our shooting team, the only female. We entered a Canada-wide shooting competeition for non-combat units. I came in third. My team mates were truly happy for me. But it didn't count in teh books becasue women were not officially recognized as Field Engineers and therefpre I could not get offical third place. That's just how it was.

my post was about what songbird said at the beginning of this thread, not to your posts frax. lol i don't want you thinking i started calling you a feminist.

you are part of an industry where nearly every man is begging for more women to join the ranks. Our demographic is a little lopsided. It seems odd to me that in this day and age a person is disqualified from anything for simply being a different gender...especially a shooting comp. that makes me sad. I can see separating genders in physical contact athletic competition based on the sole reason of genetic muscle development totally lop siding the contest...even though there are a few women that definitely give the vast majority of guys a run for their money.

Oh because I'm in a generous mood, I'm gonna let that little note of condescension slide, Phil, and just give you another quote...

"I myself have never been able to find out precisely what feminism is: I only know that people call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat."
Rebecca West

True feminists are not men-haters, as far as I'm concerned feminism just means that people are people, men & women both, and so should be treated fairly and given equal opportunities. Men & women are different & nothing will or should change that. I don't want to be a guy (the clothes are too boring), or have to do my job "like a guy" to be considered successful.
Like Frax said, I've worked w/ men more than women most of my life, and have always been free to do things my way. But when I hear stories about how someone who is fully qualified (like she was in the shooting comp) is DISqualified b/c of her gender... that is unfair discrimination, and you bet I will yell FOUL on that.
So THAT makes me a feminist, b/c I would speak out on that stuff. I have no problem w/ that.
I will be wearing a very fetching shade of lipstick as I am raising my voice, BTW
smile.gif

Actually, I would most likely be better off if I did hate men, but you're all just so... masculine! Can't help myself
smirk.gif

My original objection had to do w/ the women being flaunted as JUST sexy & a bit inane, as seen in the WG vid... but you already know any woman on here is way more complicated & interesting than that.

All I gotta say to that, is....
That quote at the end of your post, rocks.
That and you used the word fetching as an adjective.

Just trying to get my post numbers up. I think mindless derails are fetching.

I did not mean that to sound condescending at all. I was just poking a little fun. I am the farthest thing from a condescending person. If I offended I apologize. Sometimes writing something detracts from the tone in which it was meant. Cest la vie

here's to you making your post quota!! glad to help

Fully agree, songbird.

That's what I like about most of our industry. People just want someone who can do the job right and have a good attitude about it.

I'll take anyone who can do a good job with a good attitude over someone who can do a great job with a bad attitude. Male, female, whatever race or age. Just do the job right and be open to learning more. Show me how much you know and stop talking about it all the time.

As far as "femimism" goes, equal pay and respect for equal work. No special treatment as far as that goes.

OK, I feel better now.

I feel a new post coming on...
