Worker pulled into wood chipper

No, you're out of ammo and grasping for straws.

In the chipper context the 'failure' is human, not mechanical. Nobody dies when a chipper or a safety feature stops working. They die when they fail to follow safe work practices.

But hey, if Wikipedia is your source, it MUST be true!

And that's the lame crap I'm talking about. Childish attempts to manipulate emotions... it's really pathetic.

why won't you answer ANY questions!? its disgusting really that you blatantly LIE, then dodge questions, then turn into personal attacks!

why!?

can you name a proven and tested system that would help an incapacitated worker out JoJo? We have already determined yours and Mathers don't qualify!

why was your system/invention not field tested and pushed hard?

you're comparing the enclosed cabs of whole tree chippers, 36"+ with 800hp engines, to 18" chippers!? those units have NO reverse bars, or safety mechanisms that is why the operator is in a cab! correct?

do you know the meaning of Libel?

Hey Tom, would you please change my title to, "Advocate of death for my fellow treeworkers of modest intelligence."

I suppose you could just shorten it to "Advocate of Death"

Me too please. It just sounds cool.

I didn't read this entire poop show of a thread but I think you two nuts need to get a room....

I somehow doubt Mr. Vician's family and friends would share or appreciate your sentiments on this matter OTG.

so sad really.

I doubt his family would appreciate all the lies you have told, and all the questions you have dodged! I would be ashamed to go on like you have.

why won't you answer ANYONE'S questions!?

was that 1800 a newer style with the 4 way upper bar and the trip bar on the bottom or the 10+ year old design? were all the safety features working properly?

Your inability to comprehend this vital issue will not change, you've made that crystal clear to me BB.

I'm after bigger fish in this thread than you now my friend.

I appreciate your help thus far BB, but responding to your obtuse, broken record, beside the point, lame analogies is futile at this point in my opinion.

Then you obviously believe the preposterous notion that an operator is not an integral functioning part of hand fed WTC operation?

??? I'm pretty sure I said that the human IS the part that failed. No matter, you're just spouting verbal diarrhea and I'm done with you.

*** You are ignoring this user ***

Yes I am.

so let me get this straight, we prove you wrong, you change the subject, we prove you wrong, you change the subject........ad still I respond and answer all your questions. why can't you answer any?

you started a discussion about the man who was killed. you said he was using a vermeer 1800, was it the new style or old?

please stop the personal attacks, and lieing.

You really are either, not very bright, or an advocate of death for your fellow treeworkers of modest intelligence.

Sounds to me like a failsafe device in a chipper situation would mean that a chipper running with a broken control lever would continue to chip anyway, just like the broken lock that still keeps the door from flying open.

A failsafe device is a specifically engineered device to prevent a catastrophy from occuring.

A backup parachute is a form of failsafe device in case the primary chute fails.

It is what you turn to, and your very life depends on, when stuff hits the fan.

Nope... didn't bother to read the whole thread.

Yep... sucks another tree brother is dead.

Jomoco... you can't fix stupid, and that's what usually kills.

I'm not opposed to product development if it would truly stupid-proof the machine whilst not simultaneously making it even more unusable.

Maybe it's just me, but I always feed with my left hand, while my right hand is gripping the feed bar; all while standing to the side. If we're two-manning the chipper (like for big wood), then I have one hand on the feed bar, and the other on the feed wheel lift/downpressure valve, while the other guy throws big pieces in.

I prefer an engineering philosophy that gives even the most modestly intelligent a means of avoiding a gruesome death, particularly when it only costs the manufacturer a lousy 200 bucks to do it.

You coinsider slippery, possibly unmaintained, cables inside the chipper chute a failsafe!?

A failsafe is a backup chute, an airbag, a pilots ejection seat, things that ALWAYS work, with NO maintenance required.
