Worcester - Rec Climb

Hi All,

There's a recreational tree climb this coming Saturday, August 28th.

Location: Hadwen Arboretum, Worcester MA
Details: Behind the Fallon/Fairlawn Rehabilitation Clinic (meet in the uphill back parking lot, near the big house) off May St.
The arboretum is technically on the corner of May & Lovell Streets.
Time: 9am - ?

This event will be to promote education and safety, & share knowledge with other tree climbers.

Bring your own gear (and of course PPE) and a great positive attitude. The weather looks awesome and the trees are great. This is a non-sponsored event and will be a climb at your own risk. Additionally, this is private property so we're here to represent the profession quietly...

A small grill will be available for dogs and burgers (bring your own food & soft drinks).

Too bad you did not post this sooner, I would have like to go there, sounds like it's going to be a great climb.

Unfortunately I can't make it to this one but please do let us know if you will be doing this again.

My daughter just started school at WPI. She wants to climb for us next summer and would love to do a fun climb.

Reporting in from the "Woo" (aka Worcester).

The recreational climb was a great time today. Group was very small including
Stephanie, Katina & Cooper (age 4)
Rebecca & Mark
Sara, Bear & Melissa

For lunch some of our friends and colleagues stopped by on their lunch break and kept us company by the big old beautiful beech tree.

Besides Bear & Melissa, everyone was fairly green and so we shared the beginning & basics with our new members of the tribe. They are hooked! Even Cooper was pysched and can't wait to go again.

Will post with further lead time on the next event, the location is fabulous with plenty of parking and awesome trees!

How did you line up the climb? Inside angle? Permission and a benevolent blind eye from the arboretum?
The climb we're doing here in OH needs to happen later in the year for 2011, which will necessitate a new venue, which also means a different administration to woo.
