Re: Who is the best black tree climber in the worl
I liked the video. It communicates the objectives and shows them being done. It is one thing to say we are effecient, but to explain why we are effecient is cruital. You did a good job of listing ways you will be efficient.
But, can we address the choice of rope placement, like Jim Mulkey (Jman) pointed out? I personally don't see the reason for placing the ropes close to the middle of the load when blocking stuff down. I reasonably place my ropes near the butt end a vast majority of the time.
If the placement of the rope is further out, it increases the risk of the climber to get hit, by the butt end, when it falls into the trunk of the tree. --I say "increases the chance" because if the groundsman doesn't allow it to run (or there are too many wraps on the lowering device) the butt end will smash someone.
However, if every load is tied to the butt, the possibility of the climber being smashed by the butt end is very very unlikely.
And I understand that when the rope is placed further out you can save on the length of the limb being lowered in tight areas. And, it can allow someone to rig out whole length limbs, but I don't like it for the reason I stated above...
