What we do is quite special. Perspective is everything.

You know what really gives me the hebejebez about that pick is the use of a strap. Years ago we were making a butt pick with a strap and as it tightened up it melted right through the eye. I have been using chains now exclusively for about 4 years. Easier and faster to use and more piece of mind imo
Paul.... I am always learning. Will take your advice on this for sure. That pick is now past tense. Moving foward chains it is. Can you message me with pics and links to your setup please. This crane company uses chain spreaders also.

Gotta use steel, shackle in the eye if using a rope or strap. Seen bad bad thing when using slings or straps with big weights..

I use sling hooks and endless slings. No fabric on fabric
You are correct. I zoomed....there is a sling choke....ok i usually use one sling and clevis..got to revisit ...I added 2 12'ers and neglected to put in a clevis....grief.....swing ya got lucky....lesson learned... I usually check and double check....was tired....I zoomed and just seen this....my big bad....

Thanks bro and welcome to the buzz. At 51 I prefer to prune my life away. But still like a proper challenge every so often.

What is that boom rated to lift? That log must be close to 15k lbs. Though to guess from my couch.
Roger not sure. It is a Palfinger PK150000. Big fella. Close up. Not a great rig. Short a sling. To set a choke on either side. If you talking about the butt pic. It was well over 20K. Buzzed the crane out. Not my job just the hired gun. Should have waited for slings honestly. Operator said he was good. Was supposed to lift and boom in quick. But when he lifted he changed coarse. Lol.
