While I was looking for pics of the new CAMP chest/foot ascenders I came across this page:
http://www.diandian.com/tag/上升器
Scroll down a little...past Kevin Bingham...and look at the yellow Jumar/white rope setup with the series of bollards added to the handle of the Jumar.
What language is this page? If we knew I think that Google Translate might shed some light on what it is.
I can NOT imagine how it would work with the climber's rope woven around the bollards while ascending. Way too much friction. If it's meant to make the Jumar into a descender two limitations come to mind.
1---how does the climber unweight the jumar and transfer into descent with the rope wrapped on the bollards?
2---I wouldn't trust using a device that doesn't capture the rope somehow for descent. It would be too easy to have the rope slip off the knob of the bollard.
Does anyone else have a guess?
