what is your life worth ? $$$

well said Huffman!
You're green josh, prove your worth before you demand more money. Obviously, every life is priceless, but look at industry pay scale if you want answers about your 'worth'.

In my area lowballers are no longer those working without insurance and being paid in cash. Now there are legitimate companies constantly underbidding as Variable said "to stay busy." This is taking the profit out of the arb business.

To run a successful tree business has less to do with what the market will bear and more to do with knowing your costs and charging what you need to pay yourself and your employees a good wage for a physically and mentally demanding job.

Keep bidding cheap to stay busy and what the market will bear, will continue to decline.

sadly, I totaly agree with Cedar. I can not beleive how I try to give it away latley only to be underbid by legit companies. I make so much more $ as a contract climber. This is a rough game to get into. I am starting to realize that it could take a lifetime or may not even happen at all for me. At least I have fun I geuss. Happy SUnday all

It's starting to no longer be that fun for me. I've spent close to 20 years learning as much as I can about trees. I have 2 forestry degrees, am certified as an arborist and as a tree risk assessor. But now I am losing work to companies that use to mow grass and don't have a clue about tree care. There is one grass guy in my area that decided to do tree work and now uses his ventrac mower with a bucket to move rounds.

Sorry if I am bitter but I have a lot invested in both education and equipment and this is the work I want to do until I am no longer physically able.
