what is this hitch?

Tied this hitch in a hurry it worked well so i'v kept it, dont know what it is though, - its used with a pulley wheel - sorry about the poor artistic talent, i'm more of a sculpter than a painter.

(if it is new - which i doubt - first dibs on giving it a name)

Interesting looks like a half finished distal hitch...not sure how that would perform

It's not a Distel... definitely not a V.T. To me, it's a left handed Michoacan or a Knut. I've never tied the Knut, I've read the difference is pretty subtle. When I tie a Mich, I get that same finished configuration but it slants the other way.

OK, I agree with Sean it's for sure not a Distel. I don't think it's a Mich either.
Assuming I tied these right... which isn't necessarily a good assumption, The top knot in the pic is a Michoacan, the bottom one is your knot.

I've tied a Blakes, Distel and V.T. quite a bit now, the Mich only about a dozen times so I'm not certain I have it figured out yet.

Do these look right? ...anybody?

That is a Michoacan, for sure. Looks like it has 5 wraps instead of the usual 4 though.

Great hitch! I have been climbing on it for the last 2 years.

As for the 2 bottom pics, that does not look like a Michoacan. A Michoacan has some self tending abilities, until shock loaded.

I can't tell from the drawing, but I know it is not a VT or a Distel. I can't tell if it is either the Michoacan or a Knut.

Can you get us a photo?

sorry for the delay on the photos, cant find the upload lead for my camera.
What ever knot it is i like it, My work mates reckon its too stiff - i have more wraps on than on the knots they use, but i think they are just wimps! also i tried it with one lss wrap and you really have to sit down on the knot hard to get it to grab. It grabs well and dosnt slip and sit back is minimal, also it doesn't have so much of that anoying tendancy that some hitches have when your trying to pull slack through of the moment you let go of the rope it just slides back down through the hitch.

While were on the subject. Does anyone know any links to information on setting up self-tending setups? I'm not a cambium saver user as yet so I need something to work well when the rope is through a crotch or round the tree.
