What are y\'all paying to park your equipment?

Just trying to get a sense of what fees or yard rent people are paying to park their equipment if they don't actually own the property they are using.

If you rent the property or pay parking fees please answer the following:

Do you pay by the vehicle? If so on average how much per vehicle?

Do you rent the lot as a whole? If so is it by the acre or flat rate per month?, how big is your space?

Do you rent a shop at the same location as your equipment? If so, is that rent separate or part of the whole?

What setting is your equipment yard located:
Urban/Inner City?
Industrial?
Commercial?
Suburban?
Rural?
Residential?
Farm/Agricutural?

Thanks for the input!

Good questions, I also am curious to what people are paying for rent. My accountant told me it would be wise to build a barn on my property and rent it out to my company. However, he was saying that I would have to use personal money to build the structure. Not a bad idea, it gives me an income and over time would easily pay for the cost of construction.
Not sure I really want to run the business out of my home though. Yes, there are benefits, but I kinda like keeping it separate from my personal things.

One thing to keep in mind Royce, is if you ever sell your business, you could possibly rent the space to the new owner and continue to receive income from it. You will of course in that situation loose the use of the barn /office though so it would have to be thought through thoroughly. (Say THAT 3 times fast!)

Re: What are y\'all paying to park your equipment?

I have a separate 4 bay garage that all my equipment goes in, at my house. 2 big bays, 2 small. Unfortunately I have to unhook the chipper to put it all in, due to garage is to narrow. But I love having all my equipment here close, and with all my tools. If something breaks down, I can work on it in evenings etc. Plus, no more working in the cold doing equipment maintenance.

The business pays $240 a month in rent (plus the heat is separate in the shop).

We currently have free parking, but it's possibly temporary. We've found a few local places that are simple plain lots surrounded by chain link fences that can be had for approx $300/month, which in LA is a SWEET deal.

Some one told me that even if you are incorporated, keeping your equipment at your home rented or otherwise implements you if there is any lawsuit toward the Co. I have not looked into this.
Great questions as commercial property is limited here. I am interested in a solution myself.

We have a 40x60 shop area with 800 sq feet of office. Price is $1200 a month
To date all of the equipment we own can fit in the shop area.
We also have some outdoor space to park extra trucks when we get them. There is also a spot to dump some chips that we use for other services

We share a 5000 square foot warehouse with a landscape company. Also has three offices. We pay 2000 a month for this space which is located on major road networks and is easily commutable to our base of work.
