If you were in Ontario instead of instead of western Canada I would guess red pine, Pinus resinosa. You are too far west for its native range but they will grow most anywhere they are planted.

Red Pine. We get allot of them around here. Hemlock has smaller "scales"

im going to go with Red pine as well, the bark and wood grain looks very characteristic.

Im sticking with it. Red pine Could have been an od ball transplant they aren't very pretty trees kinda scragly looking so I dont know why anybody would want one.
