I JUST figured out what metatabs are and have reconfigured the keywords and such in the html of my website

I was told that it needs to be hit on and after a few months I should see an increase in rankings.
Baby needs a new pair of shoes. I really would appreciate the click.

Time to teach the old man Jesse. Not sure I understand the metatabs.

Basically the more people search around and visit your website the higher it will show up on search engines (i.e. Google). So for us to help him out we should all go to his site, click around, go back out to some other site, then go back, and do it again. The more traffic he gets the more he'll show up when his key words are found on Google and whatnot...

So since we're on the topic, my new site just launched too

Uh, not necessessarly....

There is a whole host of things that get taken into account when Google algorithms decide where your website will show up in the organic listing. The number of people that simply click on a site doesn't matter at all. If that was all it took then just hire a few kids for minimum wage and have them click on your site for a few hours, see where that gets you. Most likely It will get you notched down a bit when the Google computers realize that the same ip address has hit the same site repeatly in an attempt to artificially bring in traffic. Don't even bother trying to do this. Your intent might be noble, but at best it will do nothing and at worst you will actually get the site penalized.

The whole objective of Google is to bring in the most relavant searches for their users. If they do that, then people will keep using Google, they can keep selling ads, keep printing money and everyone is happy. So if you keep that concept in mind, then it helps direct everything you do on and to the website in order to help Google pick you when a customer types in a keyword that relates as close to you as possible.

Getting into a listing on Google is a complicated web to weave, and you REALLY need to know exactly what you are doing or two things are absolutely guaranteed to happen:

1) You will spend a lot more money than you need to

and...

2) Nobody will utilize your website in a way that will bring in revenue.

If you really want to go down this road then finding a good SEO company or guide will be invaluable. Make sure you get the right guy, make sure he is qualified, and do your homework. For every decent person who can help you with this there are a hundred that will scam you blind.

Sorry for the long post up there.....it violates my personal pledge to keep these short and easy to read.

But we know SEO stuff like you guys know how to run a chainsaw. We live and breath it here so, yea, it kind of gets me going.....

Sorry, I was putting in what I knew, and I guess I should leave what I think I know alone. Thanks for the correction. It will help for site optimization too!
But it can't hurt for us to visit his site from all around freebies can it?

Totally true.

To make it even more relavent we should search "Arbor Vision Tree Service, Phoenix". Then, we should click and browse his site. The Google monster will love this!

I agree John. And one for sure way to get more relavance is to change the Page Title Tags.

Jesse. I'd change your "Page Title Tag" right away. I'd change it to some thing like this, "Professional, Affordable, Tree Service for Phoenix Valley."

I would bet money that the most relevent key words in your area would be:

#1- "Tree Service, Phoenix" (and adjacent cities to Phoenix)
#2- "Tree Trimming, Phoenix"
#3- "Tree Removal, Phoenix"
#4- "Palm Tree Trimming, Phoenix"
#5- "Palm Tree Removal, Phoenix"

Jesse. Try a key word search under those and see who pops up.

Seriously, though, if you wan to buy your kiddo 10 pairs of shoes by this fall... change your Page Title Tags.

For example, click my signature and look at mine.

And for what it is worth... Once we get people to land on our site, it is our need to convert them to call us.

Stuff like photos taking a long time to load can send people away... Just being honest.

Do something to make those photos load faster.

Yep, get Google Analytics. It is free, and once you have that you can see exactly how many people have typed in any of those keywords over the past month or year.

Excellent comment on the page tags. That is a 100% must, must, must do thing. Do it before you go to bed it is that important.

More important than brushing your teeth.

Ok, so page title tags... Those are the description of your page that you see on google? I'm learning here that what I thought I knew I now know as nothing... about websites anyway.

pics were veeerrryyy slow for me too.

Do your research.

If you think there is a lot of info about trees on here for a complete greenhorn then multiply that by who knows what for SEO info out there.

Don't just listen to your mate at the pub about what to do anymore than you listen to a guy who cut a tree once in his back yard about how to cut, climb & rig with professional results.
