Website traffic

Ok, so page title tags... Those are the description of your page that you see on google? I'm learning here that what I thought I knew I now know as nothing... about websites anyway.

Meta tags and Page title tage are both important.

Page title tags can be over looked very easily, that's all.

...Don't just listen to your mate at the pub about what to do anymore than you listen to a guy who cut a tree once in his back yard about how to cut, climb & rig with professional results.

Totally true. Jesse, you don't have to listen to us at all....But, I have a feeling you're looking for advice to improve what you have done. And for some of us, we have researched and paid a professional to DO our websites.

There are cost effective professionals out there too. Volume Up Marketing is a great example. He is cost effective because he knows what to focus on and what not to put on a websit(if it doesn't work).

With that said, I'm the type to really get into something, so when I consulted with my web guy, I just didn't sit back and close my eyes. I learned a lot from him... But, I'm not the final authority in web design or SEO.

A pet peeve for web site creators is, adding a huge list of links is worthless on a website. Unless, a customer has A.D.D. you don't want them wondering away from your site anyway... right?

"Oh look a link! I'll browse over there!"

It is more effective to embed the link in text. For example, I have a "Tips" page on my site. If you look at "What Tree to Plant?" I summarized a Tree Selection article from TreesAreGood.com. They will most likely stay on my site to finish reading a breif paragraph. If they choose to hover over the text that is in a different color, then click it, they will find that what I am saying is similar to citing my work.

Look at the "Proper Tree Health" page on my site. It follows with, "According to the International Society for Arboriculture..."

Again, links in text (embeded) in paragraphs is much more benificial than a list of links.

It's a principle most web creators would agree with.

Do your own test. Look at really well done sites. They don't have a boat load of links any more. It's so, 1990's.
