WARN in lower right corner of avatars

monkeylove

Been here much more than a while
Location
Roslyn, Pa.
What is it, when did it start. I just noticed it when you click on somebody's name, their avatar has the little "warn" message. Kind of afraid to just hit it, if it was put there by hackers.

Not getting that here.

Maybe your software is warning you that the avatar is a link?

I've never seen a warn button

Could someone take a screenshot and post it to this thread?

*********

OK

Now I get it. I clicked on Monkeylove's name and found the three buttons

I guess the 'warn' button is opposite of the 'like' button...or something like that. Right now I'm not sure what happens if anyone gets warned

Here's a test...help me learn something. If anyone wants to warn me go ahead. I'll be the lab rat...hopefully I have A high LD50 rate!

Tom, I can't warn you. As a matter of fact, I can't even view your profile. You being Supreme Grand Buzz Poobah and all, I think you've got a special warn proof profile.

Ok, I did it. Like Boomslang's photo above, I did a Custom Warning, and didn't apply any Warning Points or add a note. Now the question is, is Monkeylove going to get a warning from me? The way you tell a friend to cool it before they really get in trouble? Or are the administrators going to get a warning from me about Monkeylove? Let us know what happens, Frank.

It's working for me now. I just warned MonkeyLove about his inappropriate body language.

My guess is it is only for moderators to use but somehow it is open for all of us. Sounds like a setting change in needed.

I disagree. I think its purpose is to allow the membership to get a warning to the moderators about another member who is badly misbehaving. The moderators cannot be expected to read every thread or post in the forum, so the "Warn" button would provide an easy, quick way for members to communicate an objection.

This is all just speculation on my part. I'd be interested to see if the warning about monkeylove made its way to the moderators, as I suspect it should have.

"it's a tool for people to warn the moderators of any bad behavior. To help members police the site too. That's what I think. It's always been there for me anyway. It's nothing new as far as I can tell."

Personally, I'd suggest ............... let's not abuse it w/ junk. Just me ..............
Let it fly, I can take it !

Monkeylove, do you have the option to delete inappropriate warnings ?

If not, send me a PM. I'll look into it; then decide.
That goes for anyone.
