can't find anything about red/pink cankers on young walnuts. Is it a wasp or fungus or what? Does anybody got a clue? marble sized red and pink growths at the base of the leaf and on new twigs.

cankers are sunken dead areas.

I don't think that the tree in question is a Walnut either. looks more like a hickory.

Arborator, I have seen that before on Walnuts. I think it was 2 years ago. The growths are kind of fuzzy, right?
