Here in Germany -2 F° (-18 C°) would be considered too cold to go outside. I remember that when it got that cold last year, my face started freezing after 30min outside... Theres no way I would climb in such weather! I only climb if its above 0 C° (32 F°) and reasonably dry. Maybe more extreme climbs will become fun when I get better at climbing.

Hi Bob, what cord do you use for your retrieval rope?

Almost went climbing yesterday (a warm 14 up here in Columbus), I've had my eye on this tree at my neighborhood park for a year now but the pond ice was finally safe enough to take my kids on so did that instead.

Aw, that's nothing, TREEfool is probably camping in that weather!

Seriously, though, that's hardcore, Bob! I will never again complain about climbing in our cool, damp winters! Hard to believe, but the temperatures in this part of Canada are more similar to north Florida than Ohio, never mind Wisconsin!! Brrr!!!

We climb unless it won't warm up to -20C (-4F) including wind chill. That of course depends on local conditions... some winds get blocked by other trees so I keep that in mind for each climb. I have to keep at it all winter to get through the back log. Would love to take a month off in the winter to just ice fish but it just isn't going to happen.
