Anyone use fungicides for vert wilt? most of the research suggests there is no effective treatments other than cultural. But some fungicides are labeled for vert wilt.

What are others using?

Thanks

Thats exactly what I ended up doing. I'm thinking about buying the arborjet or something similar.

The capsules took forever to uptake. I used the same capsules for DED and the elms took it up within a couple hours.

Thanks

slow up take is the biggest problem with Mauget. the Arborjet is the way to go.. our company hasn't gotten one yet but where planning on it. what i've herd from some guys out in the EAB states, it works great

I haven't treated for V wilt. Do the treatments actually work?

As far as injection systems go, stick with the tree IV system. The air hydrolic system can separate the bark and the quick jet kills your hands.

"Do the treatments actually work?"

Ask me in a couple years.

1st time treating for vert wilt since fungicide is usually not recommended. But fungisol is labeled for it so I pruned, ferted and injected. The homeowner wanted to do all possible for this nice mature sugar maple knowing that treatement isn't a sure thing.

We'll see?

On a different note, I'm going to try agri-fos for seiridium canker on leyland cypress. Trunk spray with pentra bark.

Experimenting on a neighbors tree for free. I have been told that some are seeing good results.

I would be curious to hear the results for the leyland treatments. I don't treat for it but it is prevalent in our area. I will usually recommend removal and replace with a better plant. Leylands are way overused in our area.

Ya, leylands are way over used here too.

But when a property has a row of lets say 10+ leylands, and one of them starts showing signs of seiridium, I'm hoping this will arrest the problem combined with fert, pruning and watering.

A mature privacy screen is a hard thing for a homeowner to accept replacement, but in the long run it may be best?

One good thing is that the agri-fos trunk spray is not an expensive treatment.

I have used Agri-Fos on layland cypress before for Botryosphaeria it works well, combined with soil remediation and fert. i would however recomend that you soil drench with the Agri-Fos without Pentra-Bark

Have you got better results with a soil drench?

2 product suppliers recently recommended the trunk spray method when using agri-fos.

Ahh. I see what your saying. Since its leylands (or any tree with low growing foliage) the lower foliage would get sprayed even if I tried not to.

Good call

I have used Trichoderma with varying degrees of success. It’s organic and will destroy many fungi in the soil. Gotta come back with some fresh, high quality compost afterwards, as the trichoderma are so aggressive that they’ll eat mycorrhizal fungus too, so you may need to help that re establish.

Trichoderma isn’t supposed to be detrimental to mycorrhizae activity or interrupt the nitrogen fixing of Rhizobium
