Vermeer Morbark or Bandit?

Thanks for all the input guys. I have it narrowed it down to a BC 1800 that I demoed and a 1590 that I am going to demo. The 1800 ate everything i fed it and did it with no problem. I like the vertical feed wheels. No stopping from little chips getting caught on the top feed wheel and the butt of the log can be grabbed and start feeding even if it is not laying on the bottom of the feed table. We fed it up to a 20" log or so and maybe a bit bigger. No prob. I was impressed at the ability to process the bigger wood with only a 115 horse Cummins. Fills my 20 yard chip truck in less than an hour.

If your bandit dealer has one ask to try a 255 , I tried a 1590 last spring and liked it but was very loud then dealer brought me 255 and bought it right away, machines were specked exactly the same engines were 140 Deere but 255 is disc and throws chips twice as far and packs truck very tight. Hope that helps I have never tried woodsman don't think there is even a dealer in Ontario anymore but have lots of bandits and rayco

the vertical wheels are what make the vermeer an inferior machine. there is a space behind the wheels that is nothing but dead space. stick two logs in and see what happens. one will get jammed into the dead space and stop the show. the vertical wheels cannot crush down on crotches and the too get caught in the space behind the feed wheels.

if you just chipping 18 inch pine logs then sure with the staggered pockets it chips fine but start bring something limby to it and you'll be cutting crotches all day to feed it through.

the 1890 brute will blow your mind if you got so aroused by the vermeer.

the 1590 will chip with the 1800 and throw chips better but it still is just a smaller machine...

not a true or fair comparison.

not going to go with the best machine available huh? i find that odd.
