Yes, as soon as you touch the trunk with your toes, it is worse and it should be so much better.Nice comparisons. I have a pantin and the CT. I also climb with a knee ascender and prefer the CT.
....moved backwards at all the pantin comes off the rope.
... when I started the world of bungee and S.A.K.A/foot ascender it just became too much.
If you get yourself a mini biner to clip in hole on pantin to stop the kick out problem works pretty good. Just one more step to take though..Nice comparisons. I have a pantin and the CT. I also climb with a knee ascender and prefer the CT.
I use a foot motion that mimics peddling a bicycle backwards (move foot forward as you start to raise it and back to finish) that does a great job of keeping the pantin on the rope when climbing in open air. The problem is when I'm against a large trunk or especially when maneuvering past limbs. As soon as the foot is moved backwards at all the pantin comes off the rope.

I like that feature ,but it takes some mastery to keep it on line sometimes ..why I tried ct ..which I love ..but for short moves in tree being able to kick off rope is nice without undoing by hand .That said I'm still using ct.Anyway, do some of you guys prefer to just kick it out of the line instead of reaching down to take it off? Otherwise why would you use it over a CT?
I have the Bonton, but I think I'll have to get the CT, because it's easier to say!![]()
