Various foot ascenders in a rope walker and frog walker configuration

Swing where can I find a pic of your ct mounted on spur ..I'm doing it to buck ti and needed references if possible . I forgot what thread where you gave a close up shot

Here are the buck ti's...I sold these I use geckos now...IMG01941-20140819-2136.webp IMG01941-20140819-2136.webp IMG01942-20140819-2136.webp

Swing, not to sound like a newbie but...I can't tell by the lower straps which foot you have them mounted on. I think is your right foot with a right ascender, correct?

Folks, I have to say not sure if this will be my thing....I usually remove the canopy without spikes ( depending on the tree )...then put them on for the truck wood...Monkey that is a lefty CT mounted on the right spike....I have since removed the ascender....might use it if the opportunity arises...

What's "this" swing dude ..the foot ascender on spur. I'm also loving the spurless removals myself when feasible.. Maybe let's start a thread on that ! Who's practices that chit main..lol

Yeah Aaron, I usually clean out the canopy without spikes depending on the tree all SRT....folks will argue against this but it's a personal thing...trees here are bushy and the canopies usually have great branch structure....allowing sweet work positioning sans spikes....trunk wood sure....send them up....sometimes I go up with them and remove them and hang them in the tree till I need them again....lol

I really thought I had a winner today with a new S.A.K.A. using the Camp Turbo foot ascender. Very very light, half the weight of others, I set it on the line and pulled the bungee back and it shot up the rope 15' feet. I'm thinking, light, fast, cool rollers...
But when I tried it, the Camp ascender will not grab a Kernmaster rope consistently. Totally slip and pick...
I was having the same problem with the Camp chest ascender too.
Too bad, I had some ideas for sewing a neat chest harness with that thing.
Well if anyone wants my opinion I'm a no-go on the new Camp foot/chest ascenders.

...
I use a foot motion that mimics peddling a bicycle backwards (move foot forward as you start to raise it and back to finish) that does a great job of keeping the pantin on the rope .....

Good point gmcttr,
I'm 6-1 195 and not my optimum 175, I'm not in my 30's when I used to run 7 miles every day and I'm NOT getting younger so thinking about things that make everything more efficient are important to me. I want to be able to do this for many more years to come and it will not be with "old school" tools and techniques.
The motions that are needed to keep a foot ascender on rope when you are using it with a HAAS or SAKA are counter productive to the motions that make you efficient walking up the rope. (Body mechanics)
Think this thru...most efficient foot motion, straight up and strait down, nothing sideways, forward, round-a-bout or bicycle....etc, just strait up and strait down.
but then to keep your ascender on the foot you have to move it forward to keep the rope against the back of the ascender, then move it back into position to engage the cam.......but if you move it back too far for good body mechanics before it engages the rope, it will come off the rope etc.
Body mechanics, yes the more upright you are in a rope walker the better off you will be. That is why getting your toes to be able to touch the trunk make it at least 30% easier to go up a tree. but there we go again, can't get that backwards bike peddle motion to hold on the foot ascender and off comes it comes.
Here is the conflict. Stepping behind you just a little pushes your body position more upright, again making you more efficient going up the rope but then raising your foot straight up with a little "behind you" movement to do this, will kick the non-locking ascender off.

So for me, being able to secure the ascender to the rope allows me to use a technique focused on good body mechanic and not technique just to keep the ascender on rope.

...but again, always a personal choice and some prefer speed while others efficiency.

Sometimes as new things come along and the techniques in use are slow to catch up.

Man I use a HAAS with my pantin daily almost...no kickout...and no biner in the hole either...my chest harness keeps me so upright....so upright...well it's all good...

I just discovered something that should keep everyone happy, I think...well probably not, anyway.
Here is the way I see it, the current techniques, backward bicycle etc to keep the Pantin on your foot are contrary to good body mechanics, stepping slightly behind you to keep you upright.
Who said the right must go on the right foot and left to left foot? (I know the answer but...)
Try this, take the left foot Pantin and put it on your right foot, or visa versa. Now the back is to the front. I have tried this and although I have to adjust to a new technique I'm seeing that it works well with the S.A.K.A or HAAS. Walking with your foot slightly behind you now for good body mechanics, keeps the Pantin on because it is held in place with the back, well now the front, of the Pantin. You still have the, "kick it off" option but with a technique that is not contrary to the body mechanics brought about by a changed style of rope walking.
The great thing is that now developing a good technique is not contrary to good body mechanics.

I will do a video of this as soon as I can.
