Urban Tree Falling

Ya you pretty much got it.. The tree was leaning hard to the lay, so no hinge was needed for directional control and the heavy lean and all that weight was enough to ensure that there was no way to overcut the hinge and cause saw snatch..
 
Just watched Jamin's vid.

Jamin, there is no excuse for leaving the chipper and truck so close to the fall.

If there is one thing we know about treework, it's expected the unexpected. If there was a pocket of bad decay on one side of that hinge (the right hand side as you stood behind it) the good wood on the other side (chipper side) could've pulled the tree round to land on top of your valuable chipper.

No... serious it looked like there was some sort of brick mailbox by the chipper anyway, plus most of the limb weight was on the opposite side of the chipper.

Nice lay, way to make the big bucks. Ya spared the concrete and even the chipper.
