Upgrading from a shaver 25 pto grinder, suggestions?

Hey guys, been reading all sorts of posts and threads on all sorts of grinders. I'm looking for something bigger. I currently have a Shaver, tractor mounted PTO grinder on a 45hp John Deere. Works great, owes me nothing. But I could really use something bigger. Don't have a ton of money to spend, but i did find a Toro stx38 with low hours. Am I going to be ahead of the game with this or just making a lateral move?? I want to get something bigger and quicker. Would this be a start? Or should I go with a big hp tow behind? Then you are limited to where you can go though. Also seen a Vermeer 352. Suggestions? I'm really not sure since I've never run a legit stump grinder before. Just this PTO one, which has worked well for a long time. Any help would be great! Thanks!

I've never seen a Shaver 25 work. Can you easily post any video of it working?

I would have a hard time imagining anything but a lateral move going from 45pto to 38hp. Accept the maneuverability is very nice.

Merle,
I'm having a hard time downloading a vid. If you YOUTUBE it, probably be able to find it there, under Shaver MFG, sc25 I think it was it is. I know you lose some HP from the tractor, probably down to 38 pto hp. Just never tried a dedicated grinder.

Okay, I see it that way. I'll bet your going to want to go with more hp.

Rent one that looks like one you would be interested in or go to a tree service far enough away so you wouldn't feel like compitition for the same market. Offer to rake up or pitch in helping in whatever way for a day of grinding. Either way, best investment of time and $ you'll ever make.

Yep. Could do that. No rental place around here in the sticks. I'll keep doing my homework. Thanks
