Latest helmet comms

That brings back memories of the constant radio intrusions on the Cardo units I last used. One guys radio would turn on for no reason, and then they would say, Hey Cardo, radio off." and that would make someone elses radio TURN ON! sometimes we would go in circles for several minutes.
That's funny! The 30K might do that, because you can turn it on and off the same way, but I haven't told our guys that. I just told them which button to push.

We started using Sena Cast. All mesh technology. No limit on users. Complete setup including earmuffs and helmet attach or over the head. They work good and are comfortable. They’re not super durable. Noise cancel is about the same as other Senas. Maybe a little improvement. Has a mic off button which is nice. The connecting is the nicest part. Just turn on and click a button. Plus you can listen to music while talking which is nice for pruning days. They’re a bit salty tho…

The Sena Expand Mesh is what we run... you can push and hold the Mesh "M" button for ~1 second to mute/unmute the mic.

Double pressing the M lets you pick what channel you're on with volume up/down, then press M again to select that channel.

Muting the mic would be a super great feature.

Obviously, covering one's microphone is plenty possible. Having the habit of clicking the mic in/ out would avoid an employee starting a loud conversation with a customer in the distance and right in my ear while I'm in the middle of something tricky, like a limb walk, that catches their attention.

Mesh also doesn't beep in/out, people join/leave without the beep... It's kinda nice, kinda annoying to not know if they don't warn you before "beeping out."

We have a hand signal to switch channels, if discretion is wanted.

Or picks up a saw, or fires off the chipper

If anyone has an easy method to get all of their sena's to link I am all ears. Recently bought 4 wortuff senas and installed on helmets and getting everyone connected is damn near impossible.

Upgrade to a setup with Mesh. Keeping four connected at once is nearly impossible unless you link them all in order, and always connect them all, and always in the right order.

I have numbered them, each guy has his own that he's in charge of. Youd just think for the money that theyd have a little better connectability or there would be an easy way.

The problem with the older system is that they use Bluetooth to connect, and Bluetooth technology is very limited. It can only connect in a linear fashion, hence the reason the order matters so much.

We used the SMH-10 series for years, but have switched everyone to the 30K series because they work so much better. And they can still connect by Bluetooth, so they're backwards compatible, but they don't have to connect that way.

I'm pretty sure they do, but do the 30K use the same docking station as the smh10? So you can just plug it in to an existing helmet setup.

No, the 30K uses a completely different mount, speakers, and microphone. Unfortunately it is not interchangeable, though the 30K will interchange with several other Sena models.
