Alright, not sure what this one is, but it's a doozy to work in! Snags the rope like crazy if you're not careful. I know the branches are real soft. The Zubat rips through it like it is a Weeping Willow.

Here's a picture of the whole tree. She's pretty when in bloom (which is right now, Octoberish). Should be another easy one for those of you in the area.

Here's what the leaves and flowers look like.

I know these pics might not be clear. There wasn't much light out and it was raining.

Hey, glad you posted this one. I think it's the same one I've been wanting to post when I came across the pictures and i had time. now i won't have to. this looks like the same tree i think. I saw this tree in Costa Rica and in Florida. Would this be the same tree? Very strong hard spikes, hard to knock the spikes off (i took a few spikes as souveniers from a broken one in Florida this year, huricane damage).

So, what's a common name for this tree also.

thanks,

I'm thinking Silk Floss Tree is the name I knew it as. I looked it up 2 years ago, but having not seen one for 2 years, couldn't recall it's name.

Thanks guys!

Chorisia specisosa I believe. Ha! Finally a tropical tree!

Leon, no one is stopping you from posting a tropical id!
Just remember that I was born and raised in Quebec City so
everything looks like a sugar maple or a balsam fir.
