Unicender

I am sorry for another unicender thread. I have a $300 credit at sherrill and am seriously considering the unicender. I have searched the threads and watched plenty of youtube videos, and I am trying to figure out what people are using to connect it up around their chest when limb walking, and is it necessary for the limb walking?

Any other tips, thougts, opinions always welcome.

A simple and clever solution that someone came up with is to use your lanyard, slung around your back and over your shoulder as the attachment for the top of the Uni.

This works but if you need your lanyard its already in service. Not a big deal to work around though.

It's not necessary but having the rope tending makes limb walking just a little easier.

If you are planning to work SRT, get the Uni.

Having used it both ways, I find having it on a tether that has two carabiners is the most versatile. Get a chest attachment for the Croll and you're good to go.
The only time I have it clipped close to my saddle is when I am working down a spar and my line is choked to the spar, or when in RADS configuration.
The concept of top tying the Uni to allow it to self-tend slack does not work as well as it sounds. Difficult limb walks usually equal a lower tie in angle. The Uni does not feed well at a horizontal angle because the rope comes out of the bottom "L" and it puts a tremendous amount of pressure on your chest harness. It is much easier to take up slack while physically advancing the Unicender when it is in this horizontal position. It is a technique that takes some practice.

dagnumit, Jimmy. I had your Uni in my bag for about 10 minutes in savannah before you took it back for the speed climb. Howd that work by the way? I almost got away with your pinto too but couldnt quite slip away. You gonna be in Charlotte so I can get another chance?
