unicender - is it worth it?

Maarten,
I was trying to find treebings video, but no luck. What you do is you swing your lanyard behind your back and over the opposite shoulder and clip onto either the top hole of the hitchclimber or uni. This turns the hitch or uni into a chest ascender allowing you to ropewalk easily.

When I talked with Morgan a few weeks ago he said that the RE version isn't likely to be changed. But, that might have changed...

Why wait...once you give up half your rope you won't go back :)

lol...just trying to decide if I want to pull the trigger on one. I've played around with one, but I didn't know its full potential back then. Now that I've seen a few videos, I have some new ideas that make me think I could really make it work for me.

Are we still talking about this?

I figured this was answered when I told everyone that I owned one (two to be exact)

Also look out for bings rope wrench and buy that when it comes out.

So it is said, so it shall be done

Ps. Where do I send my old uni out to get rebuilt?

Marc. You can send it into Morgan Thompson. My re-build was only $80. I swear this one is lasting a lot longer too.

Ranger,

After seeing the related video to that featuring smith I made the ropewalker type set up with a dual handled ascender on top connected to a foot loop.

Unicender+Pantin+Dual handled Ascender+Looprunner to keep the unicender verticle

This set up was easy to learn and fast to ascend!

It is similar to the set up he uses in this video

I use

Unicender+ pantin

That's it. I throw my lanyard over my should to tether the uni up and I go hand over hand.

Thanks for the link Jammin, one day I'll learn how to link something in a thread

I didn't pay attention to this detail... I'm going to have to try this. It sounds like it would be ridiculously fast.

Take a picture of your setup that doesn't work.

Did you try wrapping it both clock and anti-clockwise?

I'm grabbing at straws here because that has always worked for me over the years.

Its supposed to grip when you let go of the rope.

There's a fine tuning about how much to compress the clutches by wrapping the rope and then let it slide. Think of a volume control.

Is this a new occurrence? have you been able to descend in control mode before?
