If that's the case why not put that detail in the press release? Not telling the whole story leads to suspicions.

This isn't a surprise given the the current administrations path.

There are so many easy allegories right here comparing planting then unplanting gifted tree

Honestly it looks like they did the ceremonial planting in that spot for the optics, centered up in front of the white house like that. From the backside pic it looks like it may not be the greatest spot to squeeze in a large oak tree. Hopefully it's just a practical issue of relocating it to a better long term spot. The French representative didn't seem too excited about it, I'm sure they understand the logistics. They probably don't plant every tree that's been given to them in front of their capital building either.

I tend to agree with you. In the modern media world though I think people that deal with the media are getting savy enough to realize responding to every little "scandal" just keeps it in the news another cycle. By Monday morning another shiny object will pop up in the news and by Monday afternoon everybody will have forgotten about the tree never to be heard of again.

I don't think that's good thing by the way. Just a commentary on where I think we are in the current era of the 24 hr media news cycle.

What a kerfluffel!

The whole thing could have been avoided with a little different front end plan. Send the tree over ahead of time. Put it in quarantine then plant it

When my sister was a Vet Tech in the Army she was stationed in Korea She and her husband took in a dog. When my sister rotated back to the US she sent the dog ahead of her so that it was finished with quarantine when she got to Ft Lewis

Yeah should be a better system. Certainly not the first ceremonial tree from overseas.
