ultrasling instruction

Does the final bury have any affect on the breaking strength. It seems to me all the stress would be on the brumels. If the final bury does matter, what are you guys burying it at. A full fid? What about the backsplice length? Is the backsplice necessary?

Ok seriously these ultra slings are awesome and have replaced a lot of other rings & blocks I have. We use these until we get to the bigwood almost all the time now, can't beat them! Pete Devries spliced these for me. Yeah Shaun the other pic, not my bench !!!! Lol

Can't really beat the ultraslings. I've made 3 for our blocks, 2 15'ers for porty's and several others for rings. Don't really use anything else these days

Start at the tail with uneven lengths. Make the pockets and stop after what will be the first pocket. 3 brummels. The longer leg of rope gets a mobius brummel. This creates the block/pulley eye. Then crossover the two remaining tails just like doing a regular e&e.

Hello all,

I'm looking at making a few ultraslings over the next few days. Really like what you guys have done here! You've made some really nice stuff.
I was thinking of using 3/4 trex with two large ABR rings for the improved bend radius on the rigging rope. I didn't realise how large the ABR rings are till they got here, and I wonder if two are even necessary?
Also, what are people's thoughts on possible uneven loading on the first set of brummels with two rings setup eg. one ring gets caught on a small stub or something. Do you think this could affect the strength of the first brummels? It'd be like a brummel eye splice only having one side of the eye loaded. Thoughts?

Cheers

We've sold LOTS of single ring ultra slings with not one issue of rope failure. For what that's worth.
