TX TCC--Austin

We finished this year's contest Saturday afternoon. Lots of returning climbers improved on their previous performances, but most of the finalists were familiar to us. The winner was Nicolas Martinez (his fourth championship, and he's 43 now!) followed by Leoncio Ruiz Carlos. Abram Zeis made it to his first final and will probably be back if he decides to go for it--he beat my best-ever footlock time and had to go ten feet higher than I ever did (for those who don't know, TX has fewer tall trees and our footlock times tend to be a bit below average--my 40-ft climbs in the 20 second range usually would put me in the top two or three in previous years).

Thanks to Guy LeBlanc and all the volunteers who helped him make this contest happen.

Good luck in Nashville, Nico!

That is great. Good run down Baberney. Thanks.

Nico is a pro for sure. Tough comp there in TX. Lot's of close ones. Abram did that good? Awesome. He was a big supporter of the climbing/rigging course I did there (remember?) and we talked a lot. He traveled to the ITCC last year to watch and learn. I love that new found feeling thaqt they get!

Sorry, I didn't get most of the results since I was judging both WC and master's all day. The winning FL times (to 50 ft, plus a bit because the bell was a long reach from the rope) were in the range of 16-18 sec. I think.

Abram has come a long way in a year. I think he'll be the one to break Arborilogical's stranglehold on the TX comp. Unless I decide to come back next year to win a trip to HI. /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif
