Tri-State Forestry Equipment

Take the time to check out what you're buying. If you don't know enough about a machine, take someone along that does. When I bought my bucket truck I arrived when the place opened and looked it over till almost closing time. I also took a mechanic along who was certified to inspect the boom as well as the truck. Cost me a day and some cash, plus feeding him( and damn that man can eat some food), but well worth it.

I think these places are prone to misleading. There was a place out here that went out of business. I bought one truck from them, a small crane, when they first opened and it was pretty good. Then went back 6 years later to check out a 4 x 4 chip truck the guy said was perfect. I took it out and found the 4 by didn't work. Looked under and no drive shaft to it. Confronted him about it and he "knew nothing".

I think there is a small window to sell old stuff. You get it all shined up, prospective buyers see it for sale, it doesn't sell, becomes a turd in the lot that stinks. Could tell many stories.

Buy private if you can imo.

Thanks everyone for the support it means a lot. I did speak to Joe and he has sent a check in the mail and as soon as I receive I will let everyone know.

It doesn't make me feel comfortable or happy to trash anyone's business or have any negative effect on someone's livelihood, especially someone who has a family to take care of. At the same time, I really wouldn't want anyone else to have to go through this so it's good that others have been made aware of the situation.

To Joe's credit he really did listen to my issues and was surprisingly reasonable on the phone (I actually almost started liking the guy oddly enough after we talked for a while!) and said he was just frustrated and pissed and that he did want to make it right so he's sending the money back. I hope he switches up his business practices and this whole thing is just a great learning lesson for everyone. Thanks again all for the support, you guys are great.

I bought a chipper truck from them but I new what it was a clean down south truck owned by barrtlet tree with a rebuilt engine and nice paint. it needed a motor for the lift gate but not worth fighting over. joe is a young guy I'm sure hs people skills will improve but I'm very happy with my truck and had zero problems with the paper work which is always nice

If only.......if only one action, one transaction, showed the entire measure of a man and his business.

People that want to forgive and forget, let bygones be bygones, I highly suspect are people who go out and strive to do right by their customers on a daily bases - and still can point to and feel bad about this time or that when they didn't do what was right.

Anyone tempted to buy from Tri State Forestry would do well to read this entire thread. And to google "problems with Tri...", and to google a few other wordings of the same idea. Read those internet posts. Google and call some of the people who peg their losses in the thousands and tens of thousands and ask if they got their money back etc.

I believe in forgiveness. I just don't believe that even one more tree person should loose their hard earned money if a piece of equipment is purposely misrepresented to them.

I am new to trees but have been around buyer/resellers in many other businesses. To me these kind of operators are almost always shady, as they make their living buy purchasing things cheap (usually due to others misfortune) and selling them high.

These go between guys in a best case scenario are just a guy with deep pockets who buys decent equipment for pennies on the dollar, checks it out for flaws and makes repairs or discloses know issues and then sells (generally) for top dollar.

However in most instances these bulk buyer/resellers have little regard for the condition of equipment they buy and do little to inspect/repair/disclose, most simply buy cheap and sell high and many exaggerate condition/use/history and hide known problems.

In my experience you are better off buying directly from a seller or an auction instead of paying a premium price to the reseller who is simply flipping equipment he has bought from a bankrupt business or an auction.

In all cases as others have said, perform due diligence and know what you are buying...run background checks on sellers and the equipment and bring along someone who is qualified to inspect the equipment before purchase.

in our defense we sell the highest quality equipment in the industry, we pride ourselves on integrity and quality. theres a few negative reviews out there. most were wrote by our competitors in a attempt to gain a competitive edge. with that said i welcome anyone who does not believe everything they read on the internet to give us a call or stop in anytime
Really? So the truck you sold me that broke down on the way to the shop was high quality??? Thats hysterical. I am not a competitors im your customer that you ripped off ---your bad reviews are from other people you ripped off.

It's deffinetly a step above the rest. Alot of these other guys are your best buddy then they get your money and never return any of your calls.

To offer a warranty and stand behind what you are doing is a major leap forward.
It would be a major leap forward but trust me Joe ward from tristate forestry is not the stand up guy he is claiming here. He admits he owes money for the truck I purchased from him but refuses to pay it.

I'm right here if anyone has anything to say.
out of the hundreds of trucks we do a year we will obviously have a issue or 3, we deal with them accordingly. this is USED equipment we deal in. if you have super high expectations buy new!.

at the end of the day i personally stand behind what we sell. we have hundreds of thousands of happy hard working customers. and a few failures. at the end of the day we are great at what we do!.
99% of these guys talking have never done business with us!. they feed off hearsay.
real customers like ones who have come to this post to say they have had no issues at all are the customers we deal with. the rest of you guys only have what you've heard or been told. come do business with us then speak

So i still have my truck from tristate and i got it the beginning of june did my first oil change after 3000 hard miles it is still excellent and my mechanic say it is a very good truck that being said i understand many have had problems and joe can be abrasive but when u by a truck of this type 1)a vehicale deposit is a 100 or 2 hundred dollors i never left him a deposit 3 days before i went to pick it up i sent him money on a credit card so i didnt have to travel with a lot of cash 2) do a physical inspection of your truck if you cant determine if a truck is sound spend 300 bucks on a mechnic and bring him 3) joe will tell u right up front your deposit is not refundable 4)when you sign the release at his office it clearly states he has no warrenty a verbale warrenty after that is not valid 5) the nature of this bussiness is hard on the trucks and it is hard to find late model equipment 6)i was able to get this truck with out complication i saw were the kid was coming from and was able to keep it friendly from about 10 minutes after i meet him he must have 10 people every day trying to beat him up on the price and that would piss me off also 7) the biggest piece of shit i ever bought came from a ford dealer brand new

Hey joe I have something to say. If you send one more threat of any type to me or my husband or any of my family members, your ass is going to be the one that is sued! You will not get away with threatening us with defamation of character. Sir, and that's being nice, you have no character. It is beyond my wildest imagination how you are still in business. I read these post about you and I have searched your name and you have blocked me from Facebook, but you cannot block me from here. Yes, I am a woman but I will tell you all, men included, that this is an evil man. He threatened Me 2 months ago that he had a federal lawsuit pending against me and my husband. Yes, that's what I said. Those were his words. Joe, I haven't yet heard anything about that Federal lawsuit? You are a stupid man! I have had a lawyer waiting for you for 3 months and I haven't heard anything. Do you think everybody is stupid? And then you made a comment to a fellow friend of mine that you were going to have her kids taken away from her?? Because she disagreed with you? That's the kind of person you people want to do business with? You are the one who better backtrack and get rid of some of your comments. Because I promise you, I am the one with the lawyer on retainer. And I will not tolerate any more death threats, lawsuits, or anything else from somebody of your kind. In fact, maybe some of you men should realize that if he disagrees with you he will target your wives. Because him and my husband had a bad business deal, he posted on my husband's business page that I was a fat ass! Now isn't that professional? Isn't that the type of business man you want to work with. I don't care if he's selling insurance or bucket trucks, who in the hell does that? And then I am more than happy to share the post that he sent today threatening another woman about having her kids taken away, suing her and so on. I have so much information on this man. Please contact me if you would love to see some of it. Take that to the bank.
