Treestuff's New Website

I’ve never seen it advised not to use Trex, perhaps someone was concerned it would melt if too much heat were generated by the Safebloc?

I've never seen a forum with "decent" search features or results. Always the same old group of of people who have been there "forever" who know whats been discussed vs. the reality of new users. New ideas happen all the time in this industry, old threads have a purpose, but new things can always be shared in new threads.

Edit - Meant to say using google with your search words and adding "treebuzz" will often do a better job.

Back to bashing the new site - unless it's temporarily out of stock..............

Yeah it's noted in bold on TS within the ads for both the Safebloc as well as the Notch THT.. At this point I know what the concerns are (elongation/possibly wax too). But have yet to find any actual discussion on it.. just one day it was deemed as a no-go..

I can't even log into my account anymore, and I paid the fee for Nick Araya's rope splicing course, which I no longer have access to. I'll probably call them up one of these days to try to get it straightened out. If it doesn't get straight, I'm out the money I paid for the course.
I have no doubt that they'll take care of that.
Are you splicing?! You should be.

Treebuzz is so cool that you often don't have to include it in your search. It is THE resource for most of these tree climbing keywords.

Yes, they did take care of that. No, I am not yet a splicer, and I agree with you, I should already be one. I don't know exactly what it is that is holding me back. Probably it's mostly reading about the trials and tribulations a lot of the splicers go through trying to make stuff happen. Also, the complexity and the subtlety of the conversations that happen with regard to splicing. It is like trying to read a foreign language, sometimes. I do not have a work bench yet, either. I need to just jump in with the simplest of splices, just to get my feet wet. I make no promises, however. Lots of other stuff does manage to occupy my time. Weak excuses, I know. Please bear with me, I'll come around eventually. Thanks.

Tim

@TimBr , don't know if you figured this out yet, but the splicing vids are in the TreeU tab after you log in. You have to wait for the page to refresh to get them to show up (I had the same gripe and found them about 2 weeks after the migration).

I also spoke to Nick and Ash, and they both said that importing the old history was too difficult, If anyone needs reference to an old order and didn't save the invoice/email from it, you can reach out to them and they can look it up for you.

And yes, I hate the new Sherrillized version of the site.:muyenojado:

My TS order history seemed to have disapeared too and I wasn't able to put anything in a cart, even after logging in. Sent an email and got an answer back next day with a phone number to call and talk. By then, order from Wesspur was on its way! And ditto on the website sending your information to big brother everywhere - what's up with that?
This new website is silly and NOT an upgrade over the old one frankly. The old one was more like a business to business site - I don't need fancy big pictures that you can rotate etc. You are a supplier of what are for the most part commodity goods - you compete on the basis of price and availability, shipping/ duty and after sales service. Period. We are not shopping for fashionable fur coats here!
Sorry I think this thing is a mess and I can't imagine how much money you wasted on all this. And I don't like having to scroll past pages and pages of pictures. This current trend in website design sucks - the same thing happened to Baileys website I think - the old one was way better - the new one is replete with fancy pictures but you can't find anything anymore. Think of the word "Shopping" as opposed to the phrase "Supplier of innovative tree tools in partnership with your business." TS has become a "shopping" website. Sorry Nick.

You summed it up for me. Information density on the new site is way down. I have to do a lot more scrolling to see all the product information and the menu is hidden when you are on a product page. Give me an "outdated" site any day. It's like they took the TreeStuff site and gave it to whomever designed the even worse Sherrill site and made something just half as bad as the Sherrill site.

I was going to complain about that next but I've reached my whining limit for the month.
Glad to help out!
On a more serious note, maybe these guys need to have a look at some of the procurement software used in engineering projects - lot of information on an item but light on the pictures and 3D rotations and such. I really did like the old formats of Baileys (the chain/ bar search seemed to work better), of TreeStuff and of HoneyBrothers. Maybe these have better backends, but the user experience seems to be going into a direction like shopping for coats or something. Not the same thing at all. Or maybe IOS is driving this so people can shop on their iPads and iPhones? Dunno. But I think we're going backwards (and in the company I owned for 23 years we did a lot of user interface design/ Microsoft Windows Interface Guideline analyses type stuff before we ever even went beta with something new).

Ya I fucked up and placed an order there.
Their sending me two small axis swivels if anybody wants one I only wanted one and they never sent me any email telling me the tracking number or anything but it should be here any day if anyone is interested?

Does anyone have trouble with them not following order notes? Asked for two bags, green and gray. This is what they send me:

Apparently they don't answer messages on the site.
Come to think of it, they never responded to messages on the old site either.
Sent a message on the 18th about my back order from the 2nd.
Al the items that I ordered were showing to be in stock.
Called them the next day and got a human who told me they were behind on shipping.
Asked him if he thought that my 16 day back order should get priority?
Said it was up to the warehouse.
Asked nicely and he sent a message over and they shipped it later in the day.
Never got a reply to the message I sent though.
