Trees from a distance

nosirs. I guess this one's not as easy as I thought. I drove by it every day for about 5 years thinking it was something else before I took a closer look, so I guess it's a bit deceiving.

The branch structure really looks to me like Picea, the bark is very white looking in the pic. which leads me more toward Abies. Of course I am assuming it is native to your neck of the woods.

It's cool. I don't mind. How else will I expand my thinking?
I'm thinking that it's my "assumptions" that are causing me problems here.
