Damn, you guys are quick.

Thats a pretty nice looking H-Chestnut if I do say so myself, wouldnt you say?

Tom gets #2 with Dawn Redwood. That one there in particular is 79' tall, and a beauty.

I've got tons more, maybe I can stump somebody......

Ok, this ones probably not all that tough, but I still think its a hell of a tree.

It's a great picture... Just enough to show the habit, but the tree big enough to have taken on that unique old look that makes ID a bit harder.

Could be a willow, but they never get that big without some kinda defect...

Could be a boxelder or sassafras based on the scaly bark, but again, neither normally get that big, and there's other clues missing...

The way it compartmentalizes those large trunk wounds, I am going to say L. tulipifera or Fraxinus alba, although it would be a weird specimen of either one, I admit!

Wow, what a tree! I am really amazed, I've never seen one so broad and perfect! Nice pic! Did U get to climb it? Walnuts are notorious for the lack of nodes or laterals to work with, like old Elms. Tough climbs.

-Tom

No, thats just a tree in a local historic area. Theres a 25ft circumference Sycamore right across the street from that too, and a 20+ft circumference American Elm right down the street from those as well. :)

Havent climbed it, but would certainly love to. Be some nice limb walking in it!

This is another tropical tree, much to the chagrin of Xman et al, but I just happen to have shots of these... Woodpeckers like this tree, and it has something in common with the last one as well...

dang, figures i finally get on the buzz to check the id thread and it's a dang tropical tree again. I didn't get to guess on any of those good american trees.

arrrr.
