fairly common tree, but I won't say any more at this time.

no, not magnolias Matthew.
but the bark kinda looked like a saucer magnolia though.
can't you zoom in on the "things" still hanging in the tree.
since you are up late like me, i'll give ya a hint before Tom reads this tomorrow and gets it.
this tree usually isn't this big in MD.
MD is about out of it's range, gets too cold.
usaully a crappy tree here because they can just die, usually due to a very cold winter I believe.
these things put out a lot of seed and new ones come up everywhere.
